The 2022 NC Teacher Working Conditions Survey closes March 31st!

Dear Charter Leaders:

Superintendent Truitt’s goal for this year is 95% participation. OCS pushed really hard with the team to ensure appropriate representation and input from our charter educators.  Let your teacher’s voices be heard.

NCDPI Bulletin Banner

The NCTWC Survey is administered to every teacher and licensed school-based educator in our public schools every 2 years. For almost two decades, educators have been using NC Teacher Working Conditions Survey (NCTWC) results to drive decision-making in school and district improvements. In addition, our legislators and State Board of Education use data from the survey to help inform policy. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction will once again provide this anonymous, online teaching conditions survey from March 1-31, 2022. Results will be accessible on www.nctwcs.org.

If you have any questions regarding the North Carolina Teacher Working Condition Survey email Alessandro Montanari at Alessandro.Montanari@dpi.nc.gov.

PSPA Student Success

National History Day is a nationwide and year long research competition. This year’s theme was “Debate and Diplomacy”. Students from across the United States started this journey back in September and it culminates with the national competition in late June. This year our 8th grade students started these projects during the first week of the academic year and developed some amazing topics and projects.

The first level of competition was the Central Piedmont regional. Seven projects consisting of 18 students entered the regional competition. At the virtual awards ceremony on Friday it was announced that 5 projects from PSPA students are moving on to the North Carolina state competition later this month. Congratulations to this amazing group of Pioneers who will be representing our school and region at the state competition.

1.     Carter Gresko: Second Place Individual Documentary

2.     Reagan Arp, Joelle Lanuti and Lexie Von Koch: Second Place Group Exhibit

3.     Andrew Earl and Dominic Paone: Third Place Group Exhibit

4.     Ava Bunker, Ashley Smith and Lanae Tauscher: Third Place Group Exhibit

5.     Tyler Comstock, Brady Hohenstein and Lucas Robertson: Third Place Group Exhibit

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that none of this would have happened without the leadership and energy of Mr. Jerry Hensler, our terrific 8th grade social studies teacher.  Mr. Hensler joined PSPA this year and has been a wonderful addition to our staff.

I have asked that Mr. Hansler and these students share more about their projects with you at the April Board of Directors meeting.

Another example of PSPA students demonstrating what can be accomplished when learning is relevant and fun.

Sincerely,

Bruce
