Two NC Educators Receive Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching
Two North Carolina elementary school teachers were honored last month as recipients of the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the highest award K-12 teachers can receive for instruction in those two subjects by the federal government. In all, 102 teachers nationwide were named by President Joe Biden as 2020 award recipients in an announcement earlier this week.

2022-23 NC Check-Ins and NC Check-Ins 2.0 Specifications
In 2022-23 school year, NC Check-Ins 2.0 (formerly NC Interims) will replace existing NC Check-Ins for grades 4, 5, 7, and 8 in reading and mathematics. NC Check-Ins for grades 3 and 6 in reading and mathematics, grades 5 and 8 science, NC Math 1, and Biology will remain in use for the 2022-23 school year.

Amplifying Statistics and Data Science in Classrooms is a new set of FREE online modules that help educators in grades 6-12:
● Develop strategies for using an investigation cycle to teach statistics and data science
● Ignite students' interest in real world data investigations with technology
● Emphasize inferential reasoning through posing different types of investigative questions
● Earn certificates for up to 40 hrs to apply to CEUs.
