State Board of Education Mission: The mission of the North Carolina State Board of Education is to use its constitutional authority to guard and maintain the right of a sound, basic education for every child in North Carolina Public Schools.

EdNC Alex Granados Mar. 10, 2022: Becoming a teacher in North Carolina might be changing, and it could mean more money for educators
- The Professional Educator Preparation & Standards Commission (PEPSC) heard Thursday a more fleshed-out presentation on a potential new plan for teacher licensure, which could mean dramatic increases in teacher compensation and a higher starting pay for education school graduates.

Rep. John Torbett - House Chamber Tour for NC Teacher Leadership Council

I had the privilege of giving a tour of the House of Representatives Chamber to the North Carolina Teacher Leadership Council's spring summit attendees.

Launched in 2021 by State Superintendent Catherine Truitt, the NC Teacher Leadership Council is a 30-member advisory board that works to give teachers more of a voice in state-level decisions.

I thoroughly enjoyed welcoming the NC Teacher Leadership Council to the people's house and discussing education policy with them. If your group is visiting the General Assembly and interested in scheduling a meeting, please get in touch with my office at john.torbett@ncleg.gov.
