Good morning,
Pima County has always been defined by resilience, innovation, and community. As Project Blue and the Beale Infrastructure development moves forward, it is important to remember that strong communities are built when residents, businesses, educators, labor partners, and local governments work together toward a shared vision for the future.
Recent incidents involving intimidation and threats against individuals connected to the project are disappointing and do not reflect the values of respectful civic engagement that make our community strong. We can have thoughtful conversations, ask difficult questions, and debate the future of our region while still treating one another with dignity and respect.
At its core, Project Blue is about economic opportunity and long-term investment in Pima County. Beale Infrastructure has repeatedly emphasized that this project is not simply about building a facility, but about becoming a long-term community partner.
The project is expected to bring thousands of construction jobs and hundreds of permanent high-paying careers to the region, creating opportunities for local workers, tradespeople, engineers, and support industries. Beyond direct employment, projects of this scale create ripple effects throughout the local economy by supporting small businesses, restaurants, suppliers, hotels, transportation providers, and service industries across the county.
Beale Infrastructure is also working to forge partnerships with local organizations focused on workforce development, educational opportunities, and preparing the next generation for careers in technology and advanced industries. Investments in career pathways, internships, technical training, and collaboration with local educational institutions could help create new opportunities for students and workers right here in Pima County.
This vision also aligns closely with Pima County’s Prosperity Initiative, which focuses on creating economic opportunity, strengthening workforce development, supporting local businesses, and building pathways to long-term financial stability for residents across the region.
Equally important is the long-term tax base and economic stability projects like this can generate. Those revenues support the services residents rely on every day like roads, public safety, parks, flood control, libraries, and community programs. Economic development done responsibly can strengthen the entire community and help ensure future generations have opportunities to live and work in Pima County.
Southern Arizona has worked hard to position itself as a growing hub for aerospace, technology, logistics, bioscience, and innovation. Opportunities like Project Blue demonstrate that major employers and investors see potential in our region, our workforce, and our future.
Growth will always bring important conversations and differing opinions, but progress requires collaboration. Moving forward together means continuing to engage respectfully, staying informed, and focusing on the long-term prosperity and success of our community.
The future of Pima County will be shaped by the decisions we make today. By supporting responsible economic development, investing in our workforce, and fostering community partnerships, we can build a stronger and more prosperous Southern Arizona for generations to come.
