Pima County celebrated the completion of the long-anticipated Sunset Road extension project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the new Sunset Links Bridge May 6.
Representatives from the various partner organizations involved in the Sunset Links project gathered on a sunny midweek morning to celebrate the project, which includes significant improvements to the Chuck Huckelberry Loop as well as new bridges over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and the Rillito River.

PACC's next vaccine and wellness event set for May 16
Mark your calendars: It's almost time for Pima Animal Care Center's next free vaccine and wellness event. It's on Saturday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Hohokam Middle School, 7400 S. Settler Ave. First-come, first-served, and there is no limit on the number of pets you can bring.
Vaccines available are rabies, DHPP, and FRCP. Other services available include wellness exams for rashes, ear infections, allergies, dental issues, bloodwork, and nail trims.

Meet the Library's newest Writer in Residence
Local author Jennifer J. Stewart will kick off the Summer 2026 Writer in Residence program on Thursday, May 21. Stewart is an award-winning author whose seven published children's books include both fiction and educational nonfiction. She will be available for one-on-one sessions at Kirk-Bear Canyon Library this summer. Her residency will run through July 30.
