Manchester Futures is a 6 week programme - providing bespoke support to young people 16 to 25 who are looking for work. 
The programme includes an exciting 2 week Podcasting Bootcamp - You will learn how to develop and script a podcast, creating relevant and interesting content, learn the ins and outs of audio production, social media and creative writing. You will also get experience of producing and presenting in a live radio show.

Low Carbon Careers
Throughout 2021 Groundwork Greater Manchester will be running a number of employment courses in Rochdale, Manchester and Trafford for young people looking to start their career in the green economy.

Unemployed young people between the ages of 18 and 25 will choose from 3 green economy sectors: the natural environment, waste and recycling, or property retrofitting.

Each young person will undertake 3 to 4 weeks of classroom based learning followed by a 2 week work placement plus support into employment by their dedicated employment coaches.

This programme has been developed with the support of employers to ensure that learners develop relevant new skills as well as a clear understanding of employer expectations and what it is like working in the sector.

Each course includes an accredited health and safety qualification and Carbon Literacy Certificate and is informed by current job and apprenticeship vacancies that local employers are recruiting for, to allow adaptation of course content and opportunities for young people to meet employers and find out about their business.

Leading in uncertainty – Peer support for charity and social enterprise leaders
IVAR are running 90 minute drop-in peer support sessions for up to 10 charity leaders at a time, every week, from June, via zoom. Attendees will have a safe space to share challenges, time to pause and reflect, and the opportunity to hear each other’s experiences of adapting to and coping with leading in prolonged uncertainty. The sessions are for leaders of charities, community organisations and social enterprises, based in the UK. The sessions take place weekly, starting in June 2021, until April 2022.

Resources for SEND Families
The Challenging Behaviour Foundation has produced three information sheets to support families at this time:

• Making it happen – Positively managing risk for children and adults with severe learning disabilities: This sets out what should be taken into account and who should be involved when making decisions about suspending or resuming activities or face to face contact for people with severe learning disabilities.
• Education during the pandemic – Return to school Spring 2021: For families of children with severe learning disabilities who have concerns about the plan for all pupils to return to educational settings.
• Coronavirus – Restrictions placed on family contact: About the continued restrictions around face-to-face contact that care homes or supported living providers are putting in place and the impact on mental health and wellbeing.

'Please give me space' is a new initiative from the makers of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard scheme. It is designed to support people with non-visible disabilities who find it difficult to socially distance. The emblem signals to others that they need to pay attention and give some space.

A new suite of resources for commissioners and providers of care has information in Appendix 1 for people with a learning disability, autistic people and families and carers around engaging with NHS services during the pandemic. It offers advice on how to get in touch with services and gain access to the support you need.

Sonder Radio is a community radio station for the 50+ demographic in Greater Manchester. Founded in 2016, their key aims have been to promote wellbeing, reduce isolation and advocate digital inclusion. They achieve this by running various creative workshops and connecting people through the content made by the community at Sonder. They encourage people at all skill levels to take part in their workshops, as they are catered to help teach and guide every participant from the ground up. Workplace Deaf Awareness Training – Manchester Deaf Centre
Upskilling your workforce in deaf awareness gives your staff the confidence to make your organisation accessible and welcoming for deaf and hard of hearing customers and employees.

All of thier Deaf Awareness training sessions are delivered by experienced, qualified tutors who are themselves profoundly deaf and have lived experience of the many barriers that deaf people face on a daily basis. Delivery is in British Sign Language, which provides a unique and authentic learning experience. A fully qualified sign language interpreter will be present to assist with communication between tutor and participants.

To commemorate and celebrate the achievement of Greater Manchester’s care leavers GM Higher will be hosting their very own Greater Manchester Care Leavers Week #GMCLW21 and they would like you to get involved.

From the 25 to 29 October all the GM Higher social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok) will be celebrating the achievements of care leavers across Greater Manchester. Therefore, they are looking for submissions summarizing achievement of a care leaver or group of care leavers that you support. They will then share these achievements on their social media platforms throughout the week. The campaign will be organised into themes, so they are looking for an achievement that matches one of the following;

• Higher education achievement,
• Project/volunteering achievement,
• Further education/college achievement,
• Employment
• Personal milestones

Booth Centre Sleepout 2021
Join the Booth Centre on Friday 12 November to raise vital funds and awareness to support people who are homeless in our community. The sleep out is for one night only, to support others who have to night after night in the location of choice – home, garden, balcony, workplace, community setting. You're invited to take on a fundraising challenge to show your support for people in our community who are affected by homelessness. Your challenge is to sleep outside for one night only, to help raise awareness and vital funds to help people who are forced to sleep rough night after night.

Pilotlight: Develop your charitable organisation holistically
Pilotlight are opening a new programme of support for charities in England and Wales coming out of the pandemic. Pilotlight are offering free, patient support for charity leaders, putting together teams of business experts to help them over the course of a year. The programme is 10 months in length and will see a charity leader gain support from four senior leaders from a range of private, public, and charity sector organisations. Together, they coach and support that leader and the organisation's leadership team through the strategic challenges and opportunities they face.

Vodafone launches free data scheme for registered UK charities
If you're a charity you can apply for free mobile connectivity to help tackle digital exclusion. If you're a charity that needs support for digital inclusion programmes, you can apply for free Vodafone SIMs, each loaded with 20GB data plus unlimited calls and texts to be used over 6 months. You can use these however you like – for example, to help stay in touch with service users, or deliver training to people in need. SIMs are available until 1 November 2022, or until supplies last.

Skills Support for the Workforce

If so, the Growth Company want to talk to you. They can offer advice with your training plans, through their Skills Support for the Workforce initiative, which provides fully-funded support, through a range of training interventions, which are tailored to meet your business needs. Support is also available if people are at risk of redundancy, or have recently been made redundant (within the last 3 months) or people who are looking to return to work from the Government’s Job Retention Scheme (Furlough).

They have a variety of accredited and non-accredited programmes to choose from in sectors such as Retail, Business & Professional Services, Creative & Digital, Health & Social Care, Hospitality, manufacturing and Logistics. Eligibility: you must have a business with a base in GM and the training takes place within GM. Construction Industry Talent Retention Scheme (TRS)
In a response to the adverse impacts of Covid-19 on the construction industry, this scheme will match existing employees with vacancies and help find positions for employees at risk of redundancy through redeployment and temporary employee loans between employers. 
It will also allow people from other sectors to find employment in construction.

Traineeships help you prepare for an apprenticeship. A traineeship is a skills development programme that includes a work placement. It can last from 6 weeks up to 1 year, though most traineeships last for less than 6 months. Traineeships help 16 to 24 year olds, or 25 year olds with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan – get ready for an apprenticeship or job if they don’t have the appropriate skills or experience.
