Lees Corner – Family Engagement Month Kickoff

Hello everyone! Blizzard and all of us here at Lees Corner would like to have you join us in participating in Family Engagement activities from now until the end of December. We want to celebrate the important role families have in your child's education and development. Let’s see which house (Frost, Stars, Glacier and Northern Lights) sends in the most pictures! The house winner will be announced in January.

Please send pictures to our Family Liaison, Mrs. Gonzalez: hgonzalez@fcpsschools.net. We will post them outside our office wall and NYC.

We have provided the list of activities and have made them in several languages. The more activities and pictures you send the better your house chances to win!

Kind Regards/Atentamente,

Hannie Gonzalez – Family Liaison/Enlace Familiar

PTA School of Excellence Survey

From the Lees Corner PTA

Hello Lees Corner Community!

We have some exciting news: Our school is aiming for the National PTA School of Excellence Award for the 2025-2026! This prestigious designation recognizes schools that develop strong, collaborative partnerships between families and school staff to improve the educational experience and overall well-being for all students.

Why We Need Your Input

Achieving this award is a community effort, and it starts with you!

To qualify, we must demonstrate that we are actively listening to our community and working to address your needs. That's why we need you to fill out the official PTA School of Excellence Survey.

  • Your Voice Matters: The survey gives you a direct chance to share your honest feedback on how well our school is engaging with families and what areas we can improve.
  • Actionable Insights: Your responses directly help us identify specific goals and create a detailed plan for the coming school year, focusing on the needs you've highlighted.
  • Recognition for Our School: Participating in this program and completing the survey helps us earn national recognition for our commitment to fostering an inclusive and enriching educational environment.

Please take 5-10 minutes to complete the survey by the deadline: December 5, 2025.

Thank you for partnering with us to make our school the best it can be!

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener Results Now Available

Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener during the month of October, providing information on their SEL skills like achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.

Individual student SEL Screener results are now available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, we will share copies with you directly.

For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or reach out to our school staff with any questions.

Full-Time AAP Referral Deadline

Window for Full-Time AAP Referrals Closes on December 15

Parents and guardians of students in Grades 2-7 who would like their student to be considered for full-time Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) services must submit the AAP Full-Time Referral Form to Lauren Williams at LGWilliams2@fcps.edu no later than December 15, 2025.

Each year, families can submit a referral for full-time AAP services any time from the first day of school through December 15. No late referrals for full-time AAP services will be accepted.

Once a referral is received, our school will compile information related to the student. Then, a committee of six trained professionals from across the county will review materials to determine eligibility for full-time AAP services.
