GM Big Disability Survey 2022 The Disabled People’s Organisations want to use the data from this survey to push to make the changes you tell them you want in the survey. The first survey already made change happen, including:
- making humanitarian aid hubs during Covid in councils more accessible
- co-producing a new Mental Health Wellbeing plan
- piloting a new concessionary fares process to include neurodiverse people
- making digital inclusion a Mayoral pledge
- making plans for transport and train stations to be more accessible, and ensuring vaccinations were accessible.
They need you to answer the survey to give them more information so they can keep the work going to make Greater Manchester a better place to live for disabled people.
You can fill the survey in until noon on Tuesday 2 August.

Reform Radio
Radio Course Taster session: Monday 15 August, 12:30pm to 2:30pm Course date: The course takes place for two weeks from Monday 22 August to Friday 2 September (weekdays only) 10am to 4pm Could you be the next Annie Mac? This programme will see you learn the ins and outs of what it means to be part of a Radio Production team. Throughout the two week project, you'll alternate between Presenter and Producer roles, developing skills in music software, script writing, public speaking; as well as a variety of other digital and media skills. At the end of the week, you work collaboratively to create a live show that will air on Reform Radio on Friday afternoon.
Creative Leadership Creative Leadership is a blend of all you need to know about facilitation and freelancing. If you’ve ever thought about setting up your own business, it’s important to understand your audience, self-employment and taxes. Facilitating workshops and delivering socially engaged projects in your community will require you to know how to write funding bids, work with partners, plan sessions and evaluate their success. This two part project will help with all of that.

Southway Housing Trust
The Time is Now Course date: Monday 1 August, 10am to 12pm, running for 5 sessions. The next run of their employability course the Time is will again be held both online via Zoom and in person at their Southern Gate offices (729 Princess Road, Manchester, M20 2LT) so you have the option to attend in either format. Level 1 Bricklaying Study Programme Course starting in September This Study Programme is for school or college leavers aged 16 to 18 who are wanting progress on to an apprenticeship in the construction industry.
Traineeships Their Traineeships are designed to prepare you for progression on to an apprenticeship or employment. You will develop the valuable skills that employers are looking for. Summer Programme This summer programme offers a fun & friendly introduction to young people transitioning form school to further education. The programme is brilliant for anyone aged 16 to 18, who is looking to work on confidence, self-esteem; gain work experience; have fun and develop themselves to help build their job prospects.
Participants will receive the following:
- Support throughout the programme to help decided on their next steps
- If students are on Universal credit - they can still claim
- If parents or carers claim child tax credits, they will continue to do so as we are an approved training centre
- These students could be entitled to a £7.50 per day
- Children in care or care leavers 18 and under will be able to claim a bursary
- Refer a friend bonus of £20 for each student, on completion of 6 weeks on programme
- £10 bonus for 100% attendance on the programme

Start Up Vision is a brand-new initiative, aimed at pre-start or early-stage businesses (less than 1 year old) based in Greater Manchester.
Programme participants will get fully funded access to practical, hands-on advice and support from an experienced business adviser. Together, you will develop a personalised action plan for your new business to enable you to take the next steps to success.
Where relevant, you could also gain access to funded training courses and workshops or practical ‘done for you’ support services.
Whether you want to learn more about business registration; cashflow management and bookkeeping; brand identity and marketing strategy; developing ecommerce capability; improving your social media skills; building a website; getting started with e-marketing; or something else, they want to help you gain the knowledge and skills you need to put your ideas into action.
Catch-22 LifeSkills Catch-22 is an employability support service offering advice and guidance to unemployed people throughout the Greater Manchester area including people who may have barriers to get into work. Working with individuals 16 years and above, they support a vast range of individuals in this community-based programme. Creating a bespoke career plan and access to apply for training funds means career options are endless on this programme.
Their trained Lifeskills advisors will support you to develop skills and experiences to prepare you for work through:
• One to one mentoring with a personal advisor

Government - Skills Toolkit Free courses are available through an online platform launched by the government last year. The Skills Toolkit gives you access to free, high-quality digital and numeracy courses to help build up your skills, progress in work and boost your job prospects.
Green Employment and Skills Partnership (GESP) Fully funded green employment opportunities One Manchester can offer funding to Manchester based employer hosts, to create and test new Green Employment roles. The project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund.
The Green Employment and Skills Partnership (GESP) project will create a total of 125 supported green jobs in areas such as sustainability, retrofit, construction, environmental management, recycling & reuse, renewable energy, and electric vehicles. This programme can also support a wider range of roles that can demonstrate a link to the environment and carbon reduction.
Supported green jobs will be of 3 to 6 months in duration and funded by One Manchester as part-time flexible job placements (15 hours per week) paid at Real Living Wage. Recruitment will be targeted to individuals who are unemployed, and who face barriers to employment.
Individuals recruited to the roles will benefit from additional support from a Green Employment Coach providing, employment support, coaching, and referral into aligned training offers.

National Careers Service Skills Assessments The National Careers Service have free online careers assessments which anyone can fill in to find out what sort of careers you may be suited to. Whether you are out of work at the moment, furloughed or interested in exploring other career options, you are invited to have a go at one of their short assessments.

NatWest CareerSense is currently offering two workshops that will help your students explore different career pathways, and help them build upon their transferable skills.
CareerSense Exploration Workshop The CareerSense Exploration Workshop is a free learning resource focused on employability skills and building students’ career confidence, designed for students in Year 9/S3 and upwards.
CareerSense Dream Bigger The CareerSense Dream Bigger workshop has been designed to get students to ‘Dream Bigger’ by developing their skills and resilience, helping them to level up their transferable skills for the future world of work, designed for young people aged 16-18.
Find Your Potential In addition to the Exploration Workshop and CareerSense Dream Bigger Workshop, NatWest CareerSense also offers a tool called ‘Find Your Potential’. This online tool will help you better understand your skills and motivations through a series of easy questions. On completion of the tool, you’ll get a report that includes some example job types in their sector too. The Find Your Potential tool can be found on the homepage of mycareersense.com where you’ll also find other learning resources.

One Manchester Placement opportunities
One Manchester have various placement opportunities on the Hospitality Employability Programme:
The programme is 10 weeks with an 8 week work experience placement within the hospitality industry. The hours are flexible, depending on the YP and can vary from 4-12 hours per week. The aim of the programme is to give YP the opportunity to learn new skills and gain transferable skills to take onto future employment. Criteria is 16-25 years old, NEET or at risk of becoming NEET. If someone is working or studying part time up to 16 hours and want to gain skills they can come on the programme.

One Manchester Skills Support for Growth Do you work with young people aged 15 to 24? One Manchester now have a tailored and flexible service to work with young people. Their support looks to offer a positive step towards employment, apprenticeships, traineeships or further education. The Skills Support for Growth (SSG) service includes:
- One-to-one advice, guidance and employment support
- Work experience in various sectors such as catering, retail, creative,
construction and grounds maintenance
- Accredited training suited to the individual
- Confidence and skills training
- Support to make the transition to mainstream education or employment easier

Scope Individual Pathway of Support Scope provide employment advice to disabled people wherever they are on their journey into work, you could be looking for volunteering to gain that first step or be looking for a new paid opportunity . Each person who joins the service will have support from an Employment adviser for up to 13 weeks to support them to reach their employment goal which could be by;
- identifying their strengths and transferable skills
- developing confidence and job skills like time management
- reviewing their CV to meet your employment goals
- how and where to look for jobs
- mock interviews
- how to talk to your employer about their impairment and reasonable adjustments
You will have access to their selection of training modules and their online job board, which has exclusive vacancies from partner organisations, recruiters, and employers who are committed to employing more disabled people. The Service is free and open to people who are:
- disabled or have an impairment or condition
- living in Greater Manchester
- aged 16 and over

Serco and Skills for Growth Digital Careers Upskill Programme Free training opportunity for employed people in Greater Manchester! If you work in Greater Manchester’s digital, creative and tech industry, or would like to, you could benefit from new, fully-funded training through Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s Skills for Growth programme.
The Digital Careers Upskill Programme will support both people currently working in the digital field to upskill their existing knowledge base in order to progress, as well as re-skilling individuals working across different sectors who would like to get into a digital-focused career.

SharpFutures Digital Youth Hub Do you know someone who has recently completed their exams, graduated or is looking to develop new creative digital skills & switch career? If so then join the Digital Youth Hub, a new free to join creative skills project SharpFutures is working with in partnership with the DWP.

Sonder Radio 50+ Sonder Radio is a community radio station for the 50+ demographic in Greater Manchester. Founded in 2016, their key aims have been to promote wellbeing, reduce isolation and advocate digital inclusion. They achieve this by running various creative workshops and connecting people through the content made by the community at Sonder. They encourage people at all skill levels to take part in their workshops, as they are catered to help teach and guide every participant from the ground up. They pride themselves on not leaving anyone behind. There is always, in every person, the capacity to learn something new and at Sonder Radio they hope to provide that experience for everyone that gets involved.
They are on the lookout for people who are 50+ who would like to join a community of like minded individuals to socialise and develop their digital, and creative skills.

Step Together Volunteering For My Future Ex-Offender Course Step Together Volunteering supports participants to build and develop the personal and practical skills needed to move forward. As well as offering progression routes into volunteering, training, and employment. Step Together Volunteering aim to help overcome the barriers ex-offenders face in finding work and this tailored course comprises 20 hours of guided learning, 1:1 mentoring and home learning, CV and interview techniques and a plan to get you into volunteering within your community.
Transform Programme Are you based in the Greater Manchester area and currently unemployed, at risk of redundancy or considering returning to work after a break? Transform is a government-funded programme, focused on supporting individuals to find rewarding careers in the Further Education (FE) sector. For those who do not see teaching, or working in another role in FE, as the right choice for them, they will be supported to look at other options, which could include alternative employment or further study/training.

WeFindAnyLearner Up-skill Yourself Or Your Team At No Cost Thanks to government funding, WeFindAnyLearner can provide you or your team with free nationally accredited distance learning courses. These courses are a way to improve personal development, confidence and improve your CPD in the comfort of their own home or workplace. The courses take around 30 hours in total to complete and you will be awarded a nationally recognised certificate from TQUK, CACHE, or NCFE at the end of the course. You will also have online or over the phone tutor support throughout your learning journey.
To be eligible, learners just need to be:
- Over 19 as of the 31st of August 2021
- Living in England
- Not on an Apprenticeship
