Kickstart Construction - The Factory Academy 11 to 29 October Their next Training Academy, Kickstart Construction, takes place from 11 to 29 October and is presented in partnership with Laing O’ Rourke and Ryder Architecture and other companies who are working to bring The Factory to life.

DIGITAL: Shine with SharpFutures
- Are you a social media enthusiast or a spreadsheet whiz?
- Do you have great ideas but aren’t sure what to do with them?
- Have you always wanted to work in the creative digital or tech industries?
At SharpFutures, they know that it can be difficult for women to access creative and digital careers,and that it can be even harder if you’re from a BAME background, or have responsibilities within the home.
This is why they are excited to launch the DIGITAL:Shine, which aims to support women in Greater Manchester in entering and excelling within the creative and digital industries.
DIGITAL:Shine is a 6-week course where the program is as unique as you are. You can personalise what you learn, choosing from pathways like entrepreneurship, content creation, social media and business administration. You can attend masterclasses delivered by industry professionals covering all aspects of digital marketing, copy writing, brand building, social media and much more.
To apply for DIGITAL:Shine they ask that you:
- Are aged 16+, unemployed or at risk of redundancy
- Live in Greater Manchester
- Have access to a laptop & internet connection

Regeneration Brainery Free 5 day programme between 25 and 29 October Regeneration Brainery is an innovative and inspiring careers workshop aimed at getting more young people from diverse backgrounds into careers in the property industry. Free, 5-day programme called the ‘Brainery’ that will run between 25 and 29 October in Manchester City Centre and are welcoming all students aged 14 and above to sign up and come along.
The programme will take place in person across different sector leading organisation buildings in the city centre and will give students a unique insight into the many different careers within property and regeneration.

Free Sim Cards to help UK Charities Vodafone launched charities.connected, an initiative giving any charity in the UK the opportunity to apply for free connectivity to help the individuals and families it supports get online and improve its own digital capability.
This is part of Vodafone’s recently announced commitment to tackle digital exclusion and connect one million people by the end of 2022.

Low Carbon Careers Throughout 2021 Groundwork Greater Manchester will be running a number of employment courses in Rochdale, Manchester and Trafford for young people looking to start their career in the green economy.
Unemployed young people between the ages of 18 and 25 will choose from 3 green economy sectors: the natural environment, waste and recycling, or property retrofitting.
Each young person will undertake 3 to 4 weeks of classroom based learning followed by a 2 week work placement plus support into employment by their dedicated employment coaches.
This programme has been developed with the support of employers to ensure that learners develop relevant new skills as well as a clear understanding of employer expectations and what it is like working in the sector.
Each course includes an accredited health and safety qualification and Carbon Literacy Certificate and is informed by current job and apprenticeship vacancies that local employers are recruiting for, to allow adaptation of course content and opportunities for young people to meet employers and find out about their business.

Leading in uncertainty – Peer support for charity and social enterprise leaders IVAR are running 90 minute drop-in peer support sessions for up to 10 charity leaders at a time, every week, from June, via zoom. Attendees will have a safe space to share challenges, time to pause and reflect, and the opportunity to hear each other’s experiences of adapting to and coping with leading in prolonged uncertainty. The sessions are for leaders of charities, community organisations and social enterprises, based in the UK. The sessions take place weekly, starting in June 2021, until April 2022. Manchester Resident Device Scheme Staying digitally connected is more important now than ever before. So, it’s great news that Manchester Libraries and Work and Skills teams have set up a new internet and device scheme. The team have an impressive 600 devices to give out over the next six months!
This scheme will help residents in Manchester who are the most vulnerable and digitally excluded to become better connected. It will allow them to have a Chromebook or tablet and have access to the internet.
To be eligible, you must live in Manchester, be 19 years plus, have no Internet access and have at least one of the following: long term health condition, disability, be over 65 or be of low income.
If you are a resident that has internet at home, but needs support, skills or confidence to get online, then they can help you. Please get in touch and they will give you all the support you need. Or you can refer someone you know.

How Do I Refer? To refer any claimants please use the Find & Refer system, the same as you would for the usual NEA programme; and look for 'New Enterprise Allowance Existing Self-employed'. Once they receive your referral, they will call your claimants and get them onboarded.

Sonder Radio 50+ Sonder Radio is a community radio station for the 50+ demographic in Greater Manchester. Founded in 2016, their key aims have been to promote wellbeing, reduce isolation and advocate digital inclusion. They achieve this by running various creative workshops and connecting people through the content made by the community at Sonder. They encourage people at all skill levels to take part in their workshops, as they are catered to help teach and guide every participant from the ground up. They pride themselves on not leaving anyone behind. There is always, in every person, the capacity to learn something new and at Sonder Radio they hope to provide that experience for everyone that gets involved.

Workplace Deaf Awareness Training – Manchester Deaf Centre Upskilling your workforce in deaf awareness gives your staff the confidence to make your organisation accessible and welcoming for deaf and hard of hearing customers and employees.
All of thier Deaf Awareness training sessions are delivered by experienced, qualified tutors who are themselves profoundly deaf and have lived experience of the many barriers that deaf people face on a daily basis. Delivery is in British Sign Language, which provides a unique and authentic learning experience. A fully qualified sign language interpreter will be present to assist with communication between tutor and participants.

Mental health first aid training opportunity Manchester Local Care Organisation have successfully managed to obtain funding for local people who live or work in Ancoats, Clayton and Bradford to join this free training opportunity. Funded by Manchester Local Care Organisation, these sessions will be held via zoom with a number of dates/times available from July – September.
