Forest of Imagination – book workshops now
Next weekend will see Dinton Pastures Country Park transformed for Forest of Imagination Wokingham Borough.
And booking is now open for some of the arts and nature workshops as part of the event on 24 and 25 May.
The new event is a first-of-its-kind event in the Thames Valley and is free to attend.
Most of the activities and workshops across the weekend you can just drop in without booking and they're free. There's a full list of what’s on across the two days on the Forest of Imagination website.
Parts of the park will be transformed with new sensory installations, with these being finalised on site from early next week.
These were co-created by professional artists and schools, incorporating ideas from local community groups through workshops and sessions which have run since the start of the year.
Bookable workshops
Here’s the events (all free) which must be booked in advance:
Don't forget, there's almost 20 workshops across the weekend where you can just drop in, as well as the displays, installations and more.

Footpaths to stay shut for safety reasons
All public footpaths between Finchampstead Road, Gipsy Lane and Luckley Road in Wokingham town are unlikely to reopen until mid-2026 or later.
This is while our partners at Balfour Beatty work on the South Wokingham Distributor Road. Please use the alternative routes shown in this diagram.
We've closed the eastern end of the private Ludgrove School track until autumn 2025 so construction traffic can cross it using a temporary road. There's an alternative vehicle entrance off Heathlands Road, but this isn’t suitable for cyclists or pedestrians.
The footpath east of Finchampstead Road, between Heathlands Road junction and the Waterloo Road roundabout, will also close in a few months. We'll share more details soon.
We know this is disappointing, but the area is now a building site and isn’t safe for the public. For more information, see our latest South Wokingham community newsletter.
There’ll be lots of new planting and landscaping as part of the road project, which will more than replace any trees or hedges lost during construction, with additional green space to follow as part of the new community at South Wokingham.
Thames Valley Police is appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision on Sunday (11 May) at around 2.25pm. A white Ford Transit minibus overturned on the M4 Junction 10 exit slip road onto the A329M. Submit information via the Thames Valley Police portal
Cantley Park Spring Fair this weekend
There’s a Spring Fair at Cantley Park in Wokingham this Sunday (18 May) from 11am to 4pm.
The event is free to attend and takes place in the Events Field. Free parking is also available.
The event was unfortunately cancelled last month due to unforeseen circumstances. Everyone is welcome to come along and have some fun.
This great day out includes, classic cars, children's rides, character walk about with Stitch, face painting and more.
And there’s more to come across our countryside sites this summer
 Resurfacing continues to make improvements
We’ve recently completed resurfacing at multiple locations across the borough.
Drovers Way (Woodley), Mill Lane (Earley) and Binfield Road (Wokingham) have been resurfaced in recent weeks, with scores of other locations earmarked or the months ahead.
You can track the progress of this year's programme on our new live list.
We invest millions in network improvements every year using a range of methods, depending on which is most suitable in each instance.
A329(M) update
We continue to work overnight resurfacing the A329(M), between Winnersh Triangle and Coppid Beech.
Closures will take place from 7pm each day until 6am the following morning until the morning of Saturday 24 May, with traffic flowing as usual during the daytime.
See more on our interactive map, as well as diversion routes if you’re planning your journey.
