There are now only two weeks left to submit your response to the Census 2021 outputs consultation.
Tell us what you need from Census 2021 data so that we do not miss something important to you.
On 13 July, we published a consultation document outlining our proposals for the content design and release of Census 2021 outputs and analysis:
Census 2021 outputs: content design and release phase proposals
We want to know if our proposals meet your needs, and if not, what would.
It is important that you tell us what you need from our outputs and, more importantly, why you need it. If you require alternative information to what we are proposing, please provide detail about the impact of receiving or not receiving this data or analysis.
The strength of need will be considered when we evaluate your feedback. This will balance how the requested information will serve the public good against other considerations such as data quality, cost and disclosure control.
The consultation closes at midnight on 5 October 2021.
If you have any questions about this consultation, please get in touch with our team at 2021Census.LA.Liaison@ons.gov.uk.
Census 2021 was undertaken during an extraordinary period when the pandemic changed how we live and work, and ONS staff are drafting what is set to be a particularly rich chapter in Britain's demographic history.
This ONS webinar will discuss the plans to release and analyse Census 2021 data; specifically, to produce in-depth reports across all topic areas. This includes analysis of the new census questions on sexual orientation, gender identity and veterans.
Date & time: Thursday 23 September, 2-3 pm.

It’s an exciting time to get involved in the development of population statistics as we transform our statistics and look forward to the outcomes from Census 2021. To ensure our statistics are effective and relevant we need your help.
Are you someone with a knowledge of demography and local policy who would like to play your part? If so, you may be interested in working with ONS as part of the Central Local Information Partnership (CLIP) Population sub-group.
CLIP enables central and local government to work together to develop efficient and effective statistics. This sub-group is specifically responsible for population statistics and meets twice a year (online, using Microsoft Teams).
The purpose of these meetings is to seek feedback from expert local authority users like you on our development and improvement work.
Views from a range of local authorities are vital, so if you are interested in joining the group please email pop.info@ons.gov.uk.
We look forward to hearing from you!
We are completing our analysis on the survey we recently carried out and we hope to be able to bring you a clear picture of our findings by the end of the year.
One of the questions in our survey asked LAs whether the pandemic had an impact on their ability to work with ONS on Census 2021. We have included the responses below as another sneak preview of results.
