BuddyLine Be on the radio. Boost your CV BuddyLine is a series of intergenerational telephone conversations between people from the Sonder Radio Community of over 60s and the Reform Radio Community of under 30s. Taking advantage of the technology available to them, the conversations will be remotely recorded from each of their homes. Through these honest conversations, listeners enter into an intimate and genuine meeting between two people who would not otherwise interact in everyday society. Participants will be committed to a week long training learning transferable communication skills such as storytelling, active listening, interview techniques, radio presenting and also the technology side of radio with the responsibility of recording, producing and editing these calls into a show that will be played weekly.
This project starts on Thursday 25 November with a taster session from 12.30 to 2.30pm.
The training week commencing on Monday 29 November 10am to 4pm, followed by six weeks of calls. Volunteer a few hours every week for 6 weeks.

Low Carbon Careers Throughout 2021 Groundwork Greater Manchester will be running a number of employment courses in Rochdale, Manchester and Trafford for young people looking to start their career in the green economy.
Unemployed young people between the ages of 18 and 25 will choose from 3 green economy sectors: the natural environment, waste and recycling, or property retrofitting.
Each young person will undertake 3 to 4 weeks of classroom based learning followed by a 2 week work placement plus support into employment by their dedicated employment coaches.
This programme has been developed with the support of employers to ensure that learners develop relevant new skills as well as a clear understanding of employer expectations and what it is like working in the sector.
Each course includes an accredited health and safety qualification and Carbon Literacy Certificate and is informed by current job and apprenticeship vacancies that local employers are recruiting for, to allow adaptation of course content and opportunities for young people to meet employers and find out about their business.

Leading in uncertainty – Peer support for charity and social enterprise leaders IVAR are running 90 minute drop-in peer support sessions for up to 10 charity leaders at a time, every week, from June, via zoom. Attendees will have a safe space to share challenges, time to pause and reflect, and the opportunity to hear each other’s experiences of adapting to and coping with leading in prolonged uncertainty. The sessions are for leaders of charities, community organisations and social enterprises, based in the UK. The sessions take place weekly, starting in June 2021, until April 2022. Sonder Radio 50+ Sonder Radio is a community radio station for the 50+ demographic in Greater Manchester. Founded in 2016, their key aims have been to promote wellbeing, reduce isolation and advocate digital inclusion. They achieve this by running various creative workshops and connecting people through the content made by the community at Sonder. They encourage people at all skill levels to take part in their workshops, as they are catered to help teach and guide every participant from the ground up. They pride themselves on not leaving anyone behind. There is always, in every person, the capacity to learn something new and at Sonder Radio they hope to provide that experience for everyone that gets involved.

UNEMPLOYMENT FM Radio broadcast and podcast training at ALLFM every month. Sign up! This free course is aimed at people who live in Manchester and have an ‘M’ postcode, and who are currently unemployed. Unfortunately this doesn't include students.
In small groups they train you in all aspects of radio and podcast production. The course will end with a live show on ALL FM 96.9. The aim of the course is, in addition to developing radio skills, to improve your employability such as interview skills, professionalism, communication skills and confidence. It also helps to get people mixing (safely) again and make friends.
The course runs once a month. It entails 4 sessions over 2 weeks: 1 10.30am to 2.30pm: ALLFM Community Radio, Levenshulme Old Library, Cromwell Grove, Levenshulme, M19 3QE
You will need to attend all sessions which will give you opportunities to volunteer at ALL FM as presenter and/or producer after your training and receive your accreditation.

Mental health first aid training opportunity Manchester Local Care Organisation have successfully managed to obtain funding for local people who live or work in Ancoats, Clayton and Bradford to join this free training opportunity. Funded by Manchester Local Care Organisation, these sessions will be held via zoom with a number of dates/times available from July – September.
