HUMAN TRAFFICKING AWARENESS RAISING EVENTS
Human trafficking is a complex crime which involves adults and children being traded and exploited for personal benefit and can include people being forced into labour or sexually abused.
This session will be delivered by Audrey Hand, Trafficking Awareness Raising Alliance (TARA) and Justine Weaver from the National Human Trafficking Unit (NHTU), Police Scotland.

My Family My Rights is a self-advocacy and empowerment course designed to provide a foundation of advocacy knowledge, to help families understand their rights, feel confident using their voice, and drive positive change in their lives.
- Learn about your rights and those of your loved ones.
- Feel more empowered to advocate for your family.
- Gain valuable knowledge on advocacy and self-advocacy.
- Connect with others in a safe and supportive environment.
Each session will be 2 hours of course content with an optional half hour for discussion, sharing experiences and accessing individual support. A MFMR information pack will be sent out in advance of starting the sessions to ensure participants will have a useful resource to access key information from the sessions.
We run an online course twice a year that is free of charge and open to anyone in Scotland who supports a family member with substance use or alcohol related issues.
Course content includes advocacy, empowerment and self esteem, health, treatment services, and much more.

The Safe and Together model is based on three key principles: Keeping children Safe & Together with their non-abusive parent, ensuring safety, healing from trauma, stability, and nurturance. Teenage pregnancy, termination and STI update 2025 webinair

This session is delivered by Graeme Cockburn - Health Improvement Officer within the SH&BBV MCN
The update is aimed at non-sexual health-specialist staff across health, education, third sector and social care, who have an interest in improving sexual health outcomes for the people they work with.
This session provides an up-to-date overview of teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV in Tayside, in the context of the latest Public Health Scotland data, the session will:
- Explore national and local trends in teenage pregnancy, including outcomes of birth and termination, and how these are shaped by social determinants such as deprivation.
- Review patterns in chlamydia and gonorrhoea diagnoses, including age, gender, and sexual orientation trends, the implications for service delivery and prevention work, and signposting on how to access testing.
- Consider the policy context, including the Scottish Government’s Pregnancy and Parenthood in Young People Strategy, and how this is relevant to practice locally.
- Highlight the role of education, contraception access, and stigma reduction in supporting young people’s sexual health and wellbeing.
Participants will gain an evidence-informed understanding of current challenges and opportunities, equipping them to better support people and contribute to reducing health inequalities.
