New SC logo banner
Dear Colleagues, the EVC Network meeting has been moved from the 24th June to 1st July at 2pm, those who had already indicated they were attending should have been notified of the change last week. In addition to any updates, the main focus will be on the moving across to evisits2 in September and what impact this may have on you and your organisation. I would be grateful if you could email EducationalVisits@shropshire.gov.uk to confirm your attendance.
We have also given the opportunity for schools to 'play' with the new system via sandbox (again if you wish to have this opportunity, please contact the email address supplied).
Many thanks,

Consultation re Screen use by children aged 5-16 (including reception)

DFE

The DfE have launched a consultation about screen use by children aged 5-16 , calling for evidence seeks robust and clearly presented evidence to inform the development of new parental guidance resources on screen use for children and young people aged 5-16. It will also inform future policy thinking on the use of screens in schools.

The evidence gathered from Part A (the use of screens by 5-16 year olds) will be considered by our 5-16 Expert Advisory Group (EAG), who will be developing an independent evidence review to inform new parent-facing guidance resources on 5-16 screen use.

The evidence gathered from Part B (screen time and usage in schools) will be considered by the department alongside continued engagement with the education and EdTech sectors to inform future policy development.

The consultation ends 29th June

Institute for Government report - Insights from early years settings

Colleagues may be interested in reading this latest report which is one of five that the Institute for Government think-tank has published on how government can better meet the needs of groups that are often overlooked in early years policy, as part of their ‘Policy making for left-behind groups’ series.

Its evidence base informs the recommendations for central government, local authorities and front-line services in our parallel paper: Early years policy making: How can government ensure that boys from low-income families are not left behind during delivery?
