Career Connect
Your journey, your way.
The Career Connect team help young people in Manchester to explore jobs, education and training. They support young people with every step of the way. This support is aimed at 16–18-year-olds (up to 25 if you are a care leaver or have an education, health and care plan) who are not in education, employment or training. If you choose to work with Career Connect, you will receive one-to-one support from a careers adviser. They will get to know you, so that they can provide advice and support that’s right for you.

Their work experience programme offers 14-19-year-old students, from state schools and colleges, fair access to fully funded in-person, remote, and hybrid Insight Days and multi-day work experience placements. Free Coding skills
Introduction to Software Development
MadLab is running a FREE 4-week Intro to Web Development Course for Greater Manchester residents aged 18–30. This blended learning course covers HTML, CSS, JavaScript and GitHub, and will take students from zero experience to building interactive websites and creating a relevant skills portfolio. The course also covers careers advice, an insight into working in the digital industry and building relevant experience that can increase chances of a successful career.

Street League Academy 🆕
Own your own future
The Academy is roughly 12-15 young people aged 19-29 who will go through the 6 week, 4 days a week, employability course. The course involves Street League inviting employers in, holding days out to visit employers, and inviting other providers to talk to the young people on the course. This course follows a set structure so the young person needs to commit to the full 6 week programme as opposed to Street Sports/Job Club which is non-committal.
Mornings are for employability and afternoons are for sports/activity. Topics covered include employability, skills and requirements, application forms/ CV intro and many more. The course will also include sports activities such as sports sessions and casual football.

MEaP 🆕
MEaP are pleased to share an opportunity for your 16–24-year-olds to take part in Re-Design, Re-Think, a 3-day experience designed to build confidence, explore strengths, and turn ideas into real-world solutions.
Participants will hear inspiring stories from young people who have overcome challenges, explore their value and leadership potential, work in teams to tackle real social issues and receive 1-to-1 career guidance and support. Reform Radio 🆕
Radio Course
This radio course is a two week project, inviting participants into Reform to hop behind the mic and get presenting. It is funded by Manchester Adult Education Service and takes place on weekdays. This is for people that are unemployed between the age of 19 to 30 years based in Greater Manchester. Lunch and travel will be provided. Construction Cares DIY
GMI Construction are back again delivering the next Construction DIY Cares in partnership with Manchester City Council and Manchester College, and is ready for enrolment. The course will take place on the 18th and 19th of February 2026 10am-3pm at the Manchester College Openshaw Campus.

Courses are free and give people the tools to build their confidence, find a job or start their own business. Customer service is all about delivering exceptional customer experiences. After all, satisfied customers are loyal customers. Working in this field learners are going to be customer-facing. True, learners might interact with customers in a range of ways (face-to-face, email, social media or over-the-phone), but your professionalism, product knowledge and people skills will always shine through.
To be eligible you have to be aged 16+ and not currently in mainstream education Young people with SEND, SEMH, EHCPs, or those who have struggled in a traditional school/college environment. You can be referred by schools, colleges, local authority, or other professionals. This can be done by completing a referral form via the YMCA Manchester website or request one from our education team

Strive Academy
Available programmes
The Strive Academy are offering the following vocational courses: Construction, Barbering, Hair, & Beauty, Music & Media Production Lifestyle, Sport & Fitness, occupational studies and an additional offer of Functional Skills maths and English.
These courses are a 1:1 ‘Rekindle’ programme aimed to build confidence and self-esteem with a view to transition back into school or their vocational offer Young people access a simulated work environment to learn the skills needed to become ‘work ready’.
Strive offers qualifications from Entry Level to Level 2 in each of its subject areas.

Manchester Young Lives are expanding provision and have a new programme for Young People with EHCP.
The Programme will include: Employability (and qualification), PSHE, Practical activity (cooking, gardening etc), Work Experience, Possible NCFE Qualification in Health and Social Care and Enterprise.
Functional skills are no being offered as part of this programme.

UNBOUND
Unbound Narrative Nail engagement Course Make up artistry course
The Unbound team are delivering courses to empower victims of human trafficking. The purpose of Unbound is to provide a confidence-building, fun environment where survivors can learn new skills, build friendships, reduce feelings of isolation, and ultimately take control of their lives (from bondage and exploitation to freedom and development).
Their goal is to provide skills training to at least 100 survivors each year, fundraising for key charities, run Modern Slavery awareness campaigns and workshops and ultimately build connections to provide workshops nationally and internationally. Sporting Chance Group
Future Pathways Programme
The Sporting Chance Group are a dedicated Alternative Provision service located in Openshaw, Manchester. They provide tailored educational programs for students aged 11-16 (High School) and 16-24 (Post-16) and specialize in supporting young people with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). They are offering a wide variety of courses, they have four courses that will be delivered over two days a week (6 hours) for a duration of ten weeks.

Greater Manchester Skills Academy
Skills Bootcamp in Civil Engineering and Groundworks
Construction Skills People presents an opportunity to gain industry recognised plant certifications with their new Skills Bootcamp in Civil Engineering and Groundworks. The course consists of 5-days classroom learning covering areas in mental health awareness, principles of civil engineering and many more. Upon successful completion of the classroom sessions, you will continue your learning and skills development at a local construction plant training centre to gain your forward tipping dumper on or ride on roller licence and plant machinery marshal accreditation.
Introduction to Construction
Introduction to Construction Increases your employability and gain your Green CSCS card* and is a fully funded 3-week training course. Learners will benefit from understanding of communication and working with colleagues, improve on employability by producing an up-to-date CV and many more.
