1. Spring term Free Entitlement actuals – deadline tomorrow!

A reminder to submit your Spring term Free Entitlement (FE) actuals claims via the Online Provider Portal (OPP).

It is important to read the “Free Entitlement – additional information for providers” on www.westsussex.gov.uk/ecsfreeentitlement and follow the updated guidance entitled “How to claim child-level funding” available here before submitting any information. The updated guidance now includes how to claim Disability Access Fund (DAF) and Extended FE for eligible 3 and 4 year olds.

Headcount day: Thursday 18 January 2018.

Deadline for return: Thursday 25 January 2018 when the Portal will be closed at midnight.

If you have any queries please email free.entitlement@westsussex.gov.uk

2. Your Early Years Census 2018 – advance notice

The Early Years Census Form will be available for you to complete via the Online Provider Portal (OPP) from Monday 5 February 2018.

As you may know, every year we carry out the Early Years Census for the Department for Education (DfE). This is a mandatory return. The census is important because it is used to calculate the funding West Sussex County Council receives for free early education. If we do not capture your claims now, we may not have the funding later on. Headcount day was 18 January 2018.

As usual, we need to collect child-level and setting level information from you to submit to the DfE. The child-level information is collected, like we do every term, via your actuals. Please make sure that you have completed your Spring term actuals OPP submission for all funded children by the actuals deadline – Thursday 25 January 2018.

It might be helpful to know that the DfE are requesting different information about qualifications this year, please see attachment for further information.

Further instructions will be in the next Setting broadcast email on Wednesday 31 January 2018.

4. Early Years and Childcare Business Conference: Bookings now open!!!

We are pleased to announce that bookings for the annual Early Years and Childcare Business Conference are now open!

This extremely popular event will take place on Saturday 17 March 2018 at Chichester College, Brinsbury Campus, Pulborough RH20 1DL and is FREE to attend. No training subscription is required.

In response to feedback from previous conferences, and for the first time, you will be able to pick your workshops before attending. Please read the attached information before ringing for instructions on how to book, including further information on the workshops. Choices will be allocated on a first come first served basis so book now to avoid disappointment!

Tip: get the most out of the day – if two of you are attending from your setting, you will be able to attend 6 out of the 8 workshops between you if you plan to attend different sessions! If you are a childminder, why not pair up with someone and share messages from the workshops you were unable to attend.
