2. (FE PROVIDERS ONLY) Free Entitlement Autumn Term Estimates reminder

A reminder that the Online Provider Portal (OPP) is open for you to submit Autumn term estimates for Free Entitlement 2, 3 and 4 Year Olds.

For deadline and further information on how to claim Extended Free Entitlement, please refer to previous broadcast (below) dated 21 June 2017.

3. (FE PROVIDERS ONLY) Free Entitlement for 2 Year Olds

If you know a parent who has applied for Free Entitlement for 2 year old funding but you haven’t been given an eligibility code, please do contact us. We will be able to confirm if funding has been awarded in order for you to be confident the child is eligible and plan a start date.

Remember that unlike 3 and 4 year olds, funded 2 year olds can start at any point in the term, even after Headcount Day.

We are currently supporting around 400 families within West Sussex whose 2 year olds are eligible for Free Entitlement.

Should you have any queries please contact the Family Information Service on 01243 777807 or email free.entitlement@westsussex.gov.uk

4. Guidance on effective child dental health interventions

Public Health England have produced updated guidance on effective dental health interventions, including prevalence of dental decay (please see attachment).

On page 4 it provides the top 3 interventions for preventing tooth decay, and advice on reducing inequalities on page 6.

Key advice given includes that a child should be taken to the dentist when the first tooth appears (at about 6 months) and then on a regular basis.

Please share these messages with families attending your setting
