1. Universal Transitions -Transition Summary Documents

Thank you all for your hard work and engagement in Transition events and the work you are doing to support children and families through their Transitions in to Reception.

Feedback has shown that schools and settings would welcome a consistent format to share key information on individual children, enabling receiving schools to collate the same information where children come from a number of providers.

The summary document is designed to be completed by settings as close as possible to the end of term and passed on to the child’s receiving school. It is a summary document and is not designed to replace the wealth of valuable information passed on in Learning Journals.

2. Are you interested in Starting an Early Years degree

Did you know the University of Brighton will be offering the BA (Hons) Early Childhood Practice from September 2017?

This course is for early childhood professionals who wish to build on their skills and knowledge, improve their competence and confidence, and progress their careers.

The course will supplement your work with babies, toddlers and young children (from birth to five years) in private, voluntary, independent and maintained settings. It provides you with the opportunity to:

  • study while you work, bringing together practice, theory, current research and policy, supporting you in advancing your career as you work towards a professionally recognised qualification
  • set out your chosen pathway to professional development alongside other committed professionals

Once completed, the Early Childhood Practice degree provides a full and relevant qualification for the purposes of registration and regulation in an Early Years Setting. The course content builds on the NCTL's Early Years Educator Criteria and provides a foundation for further professional and academic development towards Teacher Status (both Early Years and QTS).

Information on the qualification and how to apply can be found at: https://www.brighton.ac.uk/courses/study/early-childhood-practice-ba-hons.aspx
