Beat the Street sees 10,000 taking part in first week
More than 11,000 people have already joined this year’s Beat the Street initiative.
The community game, which encourages everyone to explore the borough by walking, wheeling or cycling, is already bigger and better in its second year.
It covers more areas, with almost twice as many players as before. They've logged 42,000 miles, approaching two laps of the Equator, and should hopefully smash the previous tally of 151,000 miles.
They include pupils from Addington School in Woodley (pictured above), who enjoyed a special guided trip when the game launched.
You play by tapping a special contactless card on "Beat Boxes" across Wokingham town, Winnersh, Woodley, Twyford, Finchampstead, Arborfield, Hurst and Wargrave.
Just sign up for Beat the Street online to get your free card and a map of all Beat Box locations. Alternatively, download the app for Apple or Android devices.

 Bidding farewell to long-serving librarian
A long-serving and much-loved member of the Wokingham Borough Libraries team has retired after many years of helping residents to fall in love with reading.
Heather Dyson decided to step down at the end of May following 42 years in the library service and will be a familiar face to many, having worked at lots of different libraries across Wokingham Borough and Berkshire.
She joined the team in 1982 when it was part of Berkshire County Council, 16 years before Wokingham Borough Council was formed as a unitary authority.
Heather said: “I’ve been privileged to have held so many enjoyable jobs over the years and they have all been related to my main passion in life, which is books and reading. I’ve met some wonderful people in the community and worked with many great colleagues too. It’s been a blast.”
 Events for Learning Disability Week
A charity that supports adults with learning disabilities is hosting a variety of activities as part of Learning Disability Week.
Members of CLASP Wokingham will be celebrating this year’s theme ‘Do You See Me?’ which is all about being seen, heard and valued.
Ahead of the week, which runs from 17 to 23 June, the CLASP choir will be singing outside Waitrose at Peach Place in Wokingham, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
Other events being held during Learning Disability Week include a Mini Olympics, a social evening at the Sedero Lounge in Wokingham and a cycling session with My Journey Wokingham.
The group welcomes new members and runs activities every month. To find out more, send CLASP an email or call 07780 749453.
