This is a special jubilee edition covering all you need to know for how the jubilee weekend is being marked in the borough.
We hope you and your families have a fantastic long weekend marking the occasion.
Platinum Jubliee walking route and bench unveiled
To kickstart Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Wokingham Borough, our Mayor Cllr Caroline Smith has unveiled a commemorative bench and new signage around part of Dinton Pastures’ walking route at Black Swan Lake.
The route has been renamed ‘Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Walk’ and the bench is positioned opposite the lake overlooking the bird feeding area. We wanted to provide residents and people who visit the borough opportunities to explore outdoors while celebrating the Platinum Jubilee.
You can read more on our news website. The above photo shows Borough Mayor Cllr Caroline Smith with Cllr Ian Shenton, Executive Member for Environment, Sport and Leisure.
Tree planting
The Queen’s Green Canopy is a tree planting initiative to mark the Platinum Jubilee. With a focus on planting sustainably, the initiative encourages planting of trees to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the nation, which will benefit future generations.
During the past six months we have planted nearly 20,000 trees as part of a tree planting project and will be identifying further sites suitable during the next planting season which commences again in October. We will be dedicating one of the planting areas to mark The Queen’s Green Canopy.
Street parties and celebrations across the Borough
This bank holiday weekend will see many Wokingham Borough residents join the rest of the county in celebrating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service.
You can find local jubilee events (public and private) and share your celebrations with other borough residents by visiting the council’s Engage Wokingham website.
If you are looking for an event to celebrate the jubilee then it's worth checking out whether there is a community event happening in your local town or parish.

Send your congratulations to The Queen
There is still time to sign our digital congratulations card to The Queen by visiting our Engage Wokingham website. You can upload an image to accompany your message, for example a photo of yourself with The Queen or an image of your jubilee celebrations.
After the jubilee weekend, the digital card will be printed, and sent to Buckingham Palace. An additional copy of the cards will be sent to the Berkshire Record Office.
Contribute to the reminiscence project
Working alongside libraries in Wokingham Borough, we’re encouraging you to take a trip down memory lane and contribute to the reminiscence project on the Wokingham Engage website.
The virtual reminiscence project allows you to upload photographs of yourself with The Queen or images you have taken of The Queen, previous jubilee celebrations, stories, memories and other reminiscence items to the interactive project board.
To contribute to the online reminiscence project, visit the Engage Wokingham website today.
Jubilee celebration road closures
There are almost 100 roads closed for street parties across the long bank holiday weekend (2 to 5 June).
We've published a list of road closures for street parties on our Platinum Jubilee hub, where you can see an interactive map of closures across the borough as well as a list showing closures by area.
Although roads will be closed, access will be maintained at all times for residents and businesses.
