Explore Enterprise They continue to offer support to young people aged 18 to 30 wanting to find out more about becoming self-employed or setting up their own business. The course is designed to explore whether self-employment is the right choice and to equip young people with the skills and knowledge to develop their idea further.
Each module is two hours long and will cover the following topics: marketing, selling, introduction to finance, personal money management, pricing, cash flow, book keeping, business plan and next steps.

Get Hired with AutoTrader - Technical Support and IT Helpdesk roles This event is an opportunity to apply for roles in the Customer Technical Support and IT Helpdesk team at AutoTrader.
AutoTrader are an automotive advertising business. They offer a range of services to consumers from new and used car search listings, vehicle checks, dealer reviews and ratings, valuations, motoring service and advice. Through this event, AutoTrader are recruiting for two roles: Customer Technical Support and IT Helpdesk Apprentice.
Both roles involve a Level 3 apprenticeship to help young people to develop their skills and gain a valuable qualification.
During this event, young people will take part in an interactive workshop with a Corporate Volunteer where they will share tips, techniques and provide feedback to help them prepare for interviews. They'll then take part in an online interview for the roles available.

COVID: Recovery – Start protecting your business The health and a safety of workers returning to their workplace is essential in the lifting of restrictions.
Manchester City Council want to ensure that residents, workers and visitors are safe and so have set up two tiers of support for businesses.
- They are offering free advice and signposting for businesses as they begin their post lockdown journey. Measures to comply with health and safety duties on reopening workplaces need to be considered at an early stage in the process and they are there to offer advice where needed. They have a free risk assessment template and check list of control measures which can be used and adapted to your requirements.
- On site audits and assessments are also available for more detailed and sector specific enquiries. This service is offered at reduced rates as they help to ease the financial burdens businesses may have endured during lockdown. They are offering a 2 hour assessment for £100 plus VAT to any business starting to plan for a safe and legally compliant return to business.

Digital Skills Bootcamps The Skills Bootcamps are (fully-funded for learners) flexible instructor-led online part-time 14 week courses. You would build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with a local employer or self-employment as part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee & Plan for Jobs. Low Carbon Careers Throughout 2021 Groundwork Greater Manchester will be running a number of employment courses in Rochdale, Manchester and Trafford for young people looking to start their career in the green economy.
Unemployed young people between the ages of 18 and 25 will choose from 3 green economy sectors: the natural environment, waste and recycling, or property retrofitting.
Each young person will undertake 3 to 4 weeks of classroom based learning followed by a 2 week work placement plus support into employment by their dedicated employment coaches.
This programme has been developed with the support of employers to ensure that learners develop relevant new skills as well as a clear understanding of employer expectations and what it is like working in the sector.
Each course includes an accredited health and safety qualification and Carbon Literacy Certificate and is informed by current job and apprenticeship vacancies that local employers are recruiting for, to allow adaptation of course content and opportunities for young people to meet employers and find out about their business.

Leading in uncertainty – Peer support for charity and social enterprise leaders IVAR are running 90 minute drop-in peer support sessions for up to 10 charity leaders at a time, every week, from June, via zoom. Attendees will have a safe space to share challenges, time to pause and reflect, and the opportunity to hear each other’s experiences of adapting to and coping with leading in prolonged uncertainty. The sessions are for leaders of charities, community organisations and social enterprises, based in the UK. The sessions take place weekly, starting in June 2021, until April 2022. Manchester Resident Device Scheme Staying digitally connected is more important now than ever before. So, it’s great news that Manchester Libraries and Work and Skills teams have set up a new internet and device scheme. The team have an impressive 600 devices to give out over the next six months!
This scheme will help residents in Manchester who are the most vulnerable and digitally excluded to become better connected. It will allow them to have a Chromebook or tablet and have access to the internet.
To be eligible, you must live in Manchester, be 19 years plus, have no Internet access and have at least one of the following: long term health condition, disability, be over 65 or be of low income.
If you are a resident that has internet at home, but needs support, skills or confidence to get online, then they can help you. Please get in touch and they will give you all the support you need. Or you can refer someone you know.

Manchester Cares – Phone a Friend referrals are open Phone A Friend is for those living in Manchester who might be isolated, not able to get out as much anymore and benefit from a meeting a new friend over the phone. The friendship matches are based on personality, interests and geography. Manchester Cares hope that friendships will move to face to face visits as restrictions ease, so pairs can have a natter over a cup of tea in the living room.

How Do I Refer? To refer any claimants please use the Find & Refer system, the same as you would for the usual NEA programme; and look for 'New Enterprise Allowance Existing Self-employed'. Once they receive your referral, they will call your claimants and get them onboarded.

'Please give me space' is a new initiative from the makers of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard scheme. It is designed to support people with non-visible disabilities who find it difficult to socially distance. The emblem signals to others that they need to pay attention and give some space.
A new suite of resources for commissioners and providers of care has information in Appendix 1 for people with a learning disability, autistic people and families and carers around engaging with NHS services during the pandemic. It offers advice on how to get in touch with services and gain access to the support you need.

Step Together Volunteering For My Future Ex-Offender Course Step Together Volunteering supports participants to build and develop the personal and practical skills needed to move forward. As well as offering progression routes into volunteering, training, and employment. Step Together Volunteering aim to help overcome the barriers ex-offenders face in finding work and this tailored course comprises 20 hours of guided learning, 1:1 mentoring and home learning, CV and interview techniques and a plan to get you into volunteering within your community.
Skills Support for Employment - CSCS Course They are now providing an online CSCS course in Manchester. Successful completers will then be supported to find employment within the industry. Learners must have access to a laptop to undertake this course.

Submission dates announced for Manchester Open Exhibition 2022 Applications for artists to be part of the 2022 Manchester Open Exhibition will open on 16 June. Submissions will be made via an online web portal on the HOME website, and are open to all, including those who may already identify as artists and those who might not, working in any medium. It is free to submit work for consideration, although HOME encourages donations in order to support their outreach and engagement programme. Switched On Switched On is a project run by Citizens Advice Manchester offering energy advice to young people aged 16 to 25, as many young people don't receive practical advice when starting to live independently about how to manage their household costs. Switched On offer fun, interactive workshops for young people to learn the basics of energy efficiency and managing their bills, as well as 1-2-1 advice with one of the Young People's Energy Advisers for more targeted support. Mental health first aid training opportunity Manchester Local Care Organisation have successfully managed to obtain funding for local people who live or work in Ancoats, Clayton and Bradford to join this free training opportunity. Funded by Manchester Local Care Organisation, these sessions will be held via zoom with a number of dates/times available from July – September. Participants will be provided with adequate training resources and will receive an accredited certificate upon completion. There are currently 75 places available so spaces are limited.
