2023 Hounslow Safeguarding Children Course Brochure
Hounslow Safeguarding Children Partnership have shared the latest course brochure which can be downloaded here.
The HSCP Multi-agency Training Programme is designed to supplement safeguarding training within organisations and to address the importance of practitioners working effectively and collaboratively across organisations. The courses within the programme are designed to assist professionals to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes that they need in order to contribute positively to multi-agency working and to achieve better outcomes for children and young people.
In addition to the training programme, the HSCP, in collaboration with its partner strategic boards organises a series of seminars in response to recent issues, case learning, developments and policies at a national and local level.
All professionals who work with children and young people from statutory and non-statutory organisations in Hounslow are welcome to apply for the courses. To apply please email LSCB@hounslow.gov.uk with your contact details, the course title and date you would like to attend.

Brook charity offers Free training for young people and professionals
Brook is a national charity that offers both clinical sexual health services, education & wellbeing services for young people, plus training & support for professionals.
They have shared details of the programmes that they offer supporting young people engage in healthy relationships, consent and online safety. The programme offers free training that we can encourage our young people to engage in and also train staff to be more confident in having these types of discussions.

Cost of Living Marketplace -
Hounslow Jamia Masjid
The Jamia Masjid, next to the Heathland School on Wellington Rd South, Hounslow Heath, invites all to a Cost of Living Marketplace on 10 February, from 11am.
There will be widespread guidance and support on issues associated with the cost of living inside the mosque from partners including counselling experts The Mulberry Centre.
Meanwhile, a debt bus will be in the car park from 12.30pm-3pm giving free and confidential advice on debt, benefits, and other money worries. The bus will provide signposting on other cost of living support available.
Families can also access the debt bus from 9:30am until Noon at the Gurdwara, Alice Way, off Hanworth Rd, and local councillors will be in attendance at both events.

Hounslow Sexual Violence Prevention Worker
Hounslow Domestic and Sexual Violence Outreach Service are now offering victims of Sexual violence support from a Sexual Violence Prevention Worker.
The worker will provide practical and emotional support to anyone who has experienced sexual violence at any point in their lives. Support can be provided to survivors to understand the criminal justice system, support the survivor from a trauma informed perspective, be the voice of the survivor with outside services and offer referrals to further appropriate services.

Talk PANTS to keep children safe
Talk PANTS is a simple conversation to help keep a child safe from sexual abuse. NSPCC charity has created this programme and mascot, the friendly dinosaur Pantosaurus, to help children understand that their body belongs to them, and they should tell someone they trust if anything makes them feel upset or worried.
Please see attached document that has been shared by our Family Support Practitioners to support parents and professionals to be able to start a conversation with the child.

Hounslow Adult and Community Education New Courses
The Hounslow Adult and Community Education team have shared details of some FREE new courses that they are offering to parents / carers and other professionals who work with children. Parenting courses are aimed to help parents and carers enhance their relationship with their child, as well as a chance to share ideas with other parents and develop support skills.
Keeping Up With Children’s KS1- English & Maths Wider Curriculum
Location: Feltham Library Dates: February 20th, 2023 - March 13th, 2023
The intent of this course is to support parents and carers to understand the National Curriculum for mathematics and English and how these link to all subjects within the National Curriculum.
In Their Shoes - Understanding Children’s Mental Health
Location: Online Dates: February 21st, 2023 - March 28th, 2023
- Understand factors that may influence a child’s mental health
- Understand the pressures of society and how to stay connected to a child’s needs and wellbeing
- Discuss how to support a child’s holistic needs and the importance building strong attachments/connections
Building Security – Supporting Children’s Emotional Development
Location: Online Dates: February 22nd, 2023 - March 29th, 2023
- Understand a child’s emotional world by learning to read their emotional needs
- Support a child’s ability to successfully manage emotions and enhance the development of the child's self-esteem
- Honour your innate wisdom and desire for the child to be secure
Keeping Your Children Safe Online
Location: Online Dates: February 27th, 2023 - March 27th, 2023
- Understand the online risks that a child might be exposed to
- Understand the terminology used in the online world related to online safety
- Understand how parental controls can be used to advice on sexting, online games and video apps to keep a child safe

Short Breaks February Half Term Newsletter
