[Repeat] Upcoming Continuous CQI Activities

An e-mail was recently sent to Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Grantees participating in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Learning Collaborative regarding the following upcoming activities:

  • 1st Learning Collaborative Webinar-  Remember to mark your calendar! The first webinar of the Learning Collaborative is Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 1:00-2:00 p.m. 
  • CQI Reporting Reminder- Your March data is due by April 10, 2017.  Data collection for this month will include your March numbers for Measures 1 and 2 of the screening areas you are working on, as well as a completed Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle.

[Repeat] New 2017 MIECHV Quarterly Data Collection Form & Quarter 1 Due Date

Please report your first quarter MIECHV quarterly data using this New PDF form.   The attached flowchart provides additional guidance related to MIECHV quarterly data reporting. The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is developing a web-based reporting tool for quarterly data collection.  Until we transition to the new tool, we will continue collecting the data using this PDF form.

The deadline for reporting MIECHV Quarterly data to MDH for the first quarter of 2017 is Friday, April 28, 2017.

Minnesota STD, HIV and Hepatitis 2016 Annual Data Release Webinar

Parent Survey Consultation Session SharePoint Site Update

This announcement applies to parent visitors and supervisors who participate in the Parent Survey Consultation Sessions guided by certified Parent Survey trainer, Emily Wharton. Within the next week MDH is migrating all SharePoint sites to the Government Community Cloud (GCC). During this migration, we are unable to create new user/partner accounts for the SharePoint site. The GCC upgrade will be complete on Monday, April 17, 2017, at which time you will be able to create your own login/password with Microsoft (instructions on how to do this will be emailed to you this week) and access the Parent Survey Consultation SharePoint site.

Using Language Interpreters in the Home Visiting Setting Webinar

Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 12:30-2:00 PM (CST)

This webinar, hosted by the MDH FHV program, will offer practical approaches for home visitors that use interpreters during visits with refugee or immigrant families who have limited English proficiency. Presenters for the webinar include Kaying Vang-Lor, PHN, RN and Marsha Milgrom, MPA from Saint-Paul Ramsey County Public Health's Family Health Division. This advanced one-day training sponsored by the Minnesota Association for Children's Mental Health (MACMH) and presented by Jill Hennes, LICSW, IMH-E® (IV-C) and Independent Consultant, is offered as a support to those “holders of the space” who currently provide reflective consultation/supervision to individuals and groups around work with very young children and their families. This training will provide an opportunity for participants to delve into the reflective consultation process by building on existing knowledge and experience and supporting further development of skills and competency. A Collaborative Approach to the Treatment of Pregnant Women with Opioid Use Disorder: Practice and Policy Considerations for Child Welfare, Collaborating Medical and Service Providers

This guidance publication, developed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, is intended to support the efforts of states, tribes and local communities in addressing the needs of pregnant women with opioid use disorders and their infants and families.

About 1 in 10 U.S. Pregnant Women with Confirmed Zika Infection Had a Fetus or Baby with Birth Defects in 2016

Of the 250 pregnant women who had confirmed Zika infection in 2016, 24 – or about 1 in 10 of them – had a fetus or baby with Zika-related birth defects, according to a new Vital Signs report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Read more from this recent CDC press release.
