Roadrunner Rundown
November 12, 2024
Principal's Message
Dear Marshall Road Families,
We hope you had a great long weekend. It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Runathon on Friday as you cheered, walked or ran with your children. We are so grateful to the PTA for planning such a great ruanthon and for your support of MRES by your participation in the Runathon. This event is always a reminder of the great MRES community we are all a part of.
Have a great week!

School Events and Information
Attendance Matters
Missing days before and after school holidays can add up quickly. While we know that unexpected circumstances arise, please try to avoid taking your child on extended vacations. Please review the school calendar to help in your planning.
Picture Make-Up Day and Retakes
Picture retakes and make-ups will take place this Wednesday, November 13. Please let your child’s teacher know if you would like your child to have their picture retaken or taken for the first time because they missed the original picture day. Families who purchased pictures and are getting retakes are required to return their original photo packet on picture day. Pictures may be pre-ordered online and will be available for viewing online approximately two weeks following our school's photo day. More information about retakes can be found here. Questions about ordering? Email Victor O'Neill at underclass@vosphoto.com.

FCPS Student Experience Survey
Our school has been selected to participate in a pilot program for the FCPS Student Experience Survey. This survey will gather important feedback from students about their school experiences to help FCPS make meaningful improvements.
All students in participating grades, except those who have opted out, will receive a link to the survey in their FCPS email. We will administer the survey in selected classes during the school day between Monday, December 2-13. Any student may take the survey at home, if preferred. Last Thursday, a communication was sent to families with details
PTA Update
Please help us reach our Runathon goal!
Our Marshall Road students showed great strength and endurance on the track last Friday as they ran laps to support our school! Now it's our turn to show our support for them! We are asking the Marshall Road community to please help us reach our goal! Every contribution supports student programs, as well as every student, teacher, and staff member at Marshall Road! Here is a video about how your donation impacts our teachers and staff members.
Please visit our Runathon website to learn more and make a tax-deductible donation! All donations are due by this Friday, November 15 at midnight.
Students will have a chance to earn prizes each day this week with our Daily Raffle! Our top prizes will be announced Monday, November 18. Questions? Please email runathon@marshallroadpta.org.

MRES Staff Spotlight
Ms. Brylow, one of our 6th grade teachers, has won the priority parking spot for this week. This is Ms. Brylow first year at Marshall Road. Her favorite part so far has been the supportive staff and welcoming community, as well as the amazing students who are eager to learn!

National Family Engagement Month
November is National Family Engagement Month! This month reminds us that families are children's first and most important teachers, advocates, and nurturers. Over 40 years of research have shown that the most effective way to increase student achievement is for families to be actively involved in their children's education. Family engagement is a shared responsibility between home, school, and the community. Activities and resources can be found here helping schools and families to celebrate together. The calendars linked below are another great resource. Families + Schools = Success!
