1. Early Years Transition Events 2019 - Save the Dates
Following very positive feedback from those who attended last year, and building on locality relationships between schools and pre-school providers, we will once again facilitate Early Years Transition events during the summer term. These will take place between 20 and 24 May 2019.
Schools are currently booking their places at these events. A full list of attendees and booking details will be available via www.westsussex.gov.uk/transitions by the end of February 2019.

Paediatric First Aid (12 hour Ofsted Approved course) is now included in your Training Subscription!
This course is designed for anyone working with children including nannies, childminders and Early Years Practitioners. It is suitable for those working in registered early years provision and anybody working with children from birth to 8 years. It provides an awareness of first aid requirements for these situations. Staff who complete the course will be confident in their ability to deal with any issues that arise. It is fully compliant with OFSTED and the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage 2017) guidelines and is Accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB).
The First Aid requirements within the EYFS criteria can be found in appendix A here

- Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 January 2019, Centenary House, Worthing
Following dates will be available on the Learning and Development Gateway by the end of the week:
- Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 February 2019 - The Regis Centre, Bognor Regis
- Saturday 16 and 23 February 2019 - Crawley - Venue to be confirmed
- Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 March 2019 - Field Place, Worthing
- Thursday 21 and Friday 22 March 2019 – Chichester – Venue to be confirmed
- Monday 25 and Wednesday 27 March 2019 – Central Sussex College - Horsham
After attending this course you will receive a Paediatric First Aid Certificate that will be valid for three years.
You will need to register on the Learning and Development Gateway before you can book. There is also a Pay as you Go option available for £60pp if you are not part of the training subscription scheme.

4. Makaton Foundation Workshop for Professionals
Makaton Foundation Workshop for Professionals (Stage 1–4 and Additional Vocabulary), a two part course.
Date: 1 March and 8 March 2019
Time: 9.00am–4.00pm
Venue: Bognor Regis Nursery School, 85 Victoria Drive, Bognor Regis, PO21 2TB
Cost: The cost of the course is £185 which includes materials but lunch is not included.
Tutor: Noriko Bayes (SSC nursery nurse at BRNS and Makaton Regional Tutor)
Entry criteria
Participants need to have an understanding of early communication skills but no signing experience/knowledge required.

5. Postgraduate Certificate in Early Years Education with Early Years Teacher Status
Would you like to achieve Early Years Teacher Status with an Ofsted Outstanding Early Years Initial Teacher Training provider in the South of England? Would you also like to achieve a Postgraduate Certificate in Early Years Education with the potential to progress on to further Masters level study? If so, then do contact the University of Brighton who would love to tell you all about their programme and how they can support you in your professional development in Early Years.
