A reminder that the Online Provider Portal (OPP) is open for you to submit your Spring term estimates for Free Entitlement 2, 3 and 4 Year Olds: www.westsussex.gov.uk/ecsportal

Our quick and easy video guide explains how estimate payments work, and then shows you how to submit your estimate claim via the OPP. Alternatively, you can use the Estimate help guide PDF version. Both can be accessed from here.

The deadline for estimate submissions is 30 November 2018.

For further information please refer to the broadcast sent on Wednesday 14 November.

If you have any questions, please email free.entitlement@westsussex.gov.uk or phone the Family Information Service on 01243 777807.

2. EYFS Group Monitoring Tool

Since 2015, West Sussex County Council (WSCC) has been funding the EYFS Group Monitoring Tool accessed by early years providers to support with the recording and analysis of children’s learning outcomes. Unfortunately, WSCC is unable to continue to fund this tool. We have been in contact with VSense, who operate the tool, to try and negotiate a rate for our early years providers to continue to have access should they wish to do so. However, VSense are unable to engage with individual providers so have taken the decision to terminate this service on 30 November 2018.

West Sussex is continuing to provide county membership to the Early Years Foundation Stage Forum which entitles you to a reduced rate when accessing Tapestry, an online, interactive learning journal. Please speak to your Early Years and Childcare Advisor if you would like more information about accessing the Early Years Foundation Stage Forum.

We apologise for any inconvenience that the ending of the access to the EYFS Group Montoring Tool may cause you.

8. ERIC, The Children’s Bowel and Bladder Charity

Did you know that ERIC can provide you, and the families that you work with, advice and guidance to enable you to support young children’s bowel and bladder health?

Their website (https://www.eric.org.uk/) provides lots of helpful information and leaflets that you can purchase or download. The leaflets cover issues such as daytime wetting, toilet training and advice for children with additional needs. There are specific leaflets for families with children aged 2 and for children due to start school which might be helpful to share with parents.

We have added a link to the ERIC website from the West sussex website at: https://www.westsussex.gov.uk/business-and-consumers/information-for-childcare-providers/supporting-good-practice/health-and-wellbeing/

In the new year, ERIC will be publishing a potty training policy template to support you to reflect on your practice and develop a policy for your setting.
