1. Data security: submitting sensitive or personal
information
As outlined in the ‘Integrated Prevention and Earliest
Help Privacy Notice for Early Years and Childcare Settings’ (2018), on occasion you will be
required to pass on information to West Sussex County Council about children,
parents or carers. Some of this information may be sensitive or personal
information, and we understand that when sending this information to us, you
want to safeguard against unauthorised access to the data.
Therefore,
if you are emailing sensitive or personal information to us, such as Inclusion
Funding, Targeted Setting Support, or Free Entitlement documents, and you wish
to password protect the attachments, please use your Ofsted URN as the
password. For example: EY123123.
Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) has a
Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Service for children and young people
who stammer from the ages of two to 19.
We are currently writing to health and educational professionals to
promote the prompt referral of children and young people who stammer.
Please see the attached information sheet outlining the
importance of prompt referrals to our service.
We are always happy to provide advice to professionals. We would be grateful if you could discuss this
with your team and display the flyer in your staff area.
Without support,
stammering can significantly disrupt an individual’s ability to communicate, as
well as their social, educational and psychological development. We would
encourage you to refer children as soon as they start to stammer. Early
intervention at a young age has the best outcome and can prevent a lifetime of
stammering, but therapy for stammering at any age is essential to enable a
young person to achieve their full potential.
If you have any questions, please do not
hesitate to contact us, (contact details are on the attached information sheet)
or for further information, visit the website of the British Stammering
Association www.stammering.org.

3. All about Me: Overcoming barriers that prevent
employment or further learning for parents
The ‘All About Me’
course is aimed at individuals who are out of work and a parent to a child at home who is under 19 years or under 25 (for those with SEND) and
would like some support
in overcoming barriers that prevent employment or further learning.
Some of the topics
will cover how to have a healthy family and work life balance, will look at
communication and team work and will also support individuals to plan their
learning or career journey. This is completely free.
Please see the
attached flyer for further information and share with your families.
This will be taking
place in Bognor Regis, however there is scope to put on more training around
the county if a need is identified.
