1. Spring term Free Entitlement actuals and 30hr codes

A reminder the Online Provider Portal (OPP) is now open for Spring term Free Entitlement (FE) actuals claims.

Extended deadline for 30 hour codes

We will fund 30 hours places for spring term for any parent who has a 30 hours code dated 11 January or earlier. This extended deadline is for Spring term only and applies to reconfirmations, new 30 hours codes and temporary codes. No additional evidence is required and you just need to check the date of the code.

It is important to read the “Free Entitlement – additional information for providers” on www.westsussex.gov.uk/ecsfreeentitlement and follow the updated guidance entitled “How to claim child-level funding” available here before submitting any information. The updated guidance now includes how to claim Disability Access Fund (DAF) and Extended FE for eligible 3 and 4 year olds.

Headcount day: Thursday 18 January 2018.

Deadline for return: Thursday 25 January 2018 when the Portal will be closed at midnight.

If you have any queries please email free.entitlement@westsussex.gov.uk

3. Staff Module Unavailable

The Staff Module is currently unavailable via the Online Provider Portal (OPP) due to a fault in our system. Please do not submit any staff updates via the OPP until further notice.

If any urgent staff updates are required, please email IPEH.Practice.Improvement@westsussex.gov.uk

4. Get it Right and Protect Yourself!

Parent Declarations have never been more important!

With more children accessing their Free Entitlements across more than one setting keeping accurate and complete parent declaration forms is your way to protect your business.

When funding claims get duplicated by different settings for the same child, it is the parent declaration form that we rely on to work out where and what the child should be claiming.

Make sure that your forms are:

  • Up to date
  • Complete
  • Signed

If you have any questions regarding this please email free.entitlement@westsussex.gov.uk

5. Schools Flu Outbreak

Please see the attached letter we are sending on behalf of our Public Health England colleagues.

If you have any questions or need advice and to report outbreaks regarding Seasonal Flu please contact:

The local Health Protection Team on Tel: 0344 225 3861 Option 3 then Option 1

6. Tax-Free Childcare opens to under 9s

From the 15 January 2018, Tax-Free Childcare opened to parents whose youngest child is under 9, or who turned 9 that day. The scheme will open to all remaining eligible families on 14 February 2018. This means all eligible parents will be able to apply for Tax-Free Childcare before the 31 March 2018.

Parents, including the self-employed, can apply online for Tax-Free Childcare by visiting the Childcare Choices website. Parents can also access the government’s childcare calculator through Childcare Choices, which helps parents to choose which government childcare support is best for them.

We’d be very grateful for your support in communicating with local parents on this.
