As we begin this new period of inspections using the Ofsted Early Years Inspection Toolkit, we want to reassure you that supporting you remains our priority. Working together as Early Years and Inclusion Teams, alongside colleagues within the local authority, have developed a range of Support Tools designed to help you prepare:
Firstly, we have re-designed our Record of Visit (RV) to reflect the Ofsted new evaluation areas
1. RV - November 2025.docx
4. Ofsted Early Years Inspection Toolkit.docx
These are:
- Safeguarding
- Inclusion
- Curriculum and Teaching
- Achievement
- Behaviour, Attitudes and Establishing routines
- Children's Welfare and Well-being
- Leadership and governance
To go alongside this, we have developed a Support Tool, this is to help you reflect on your current practice and identify your strengths and areas for development. (copy attached) This is to be used alongside the Ofsted Early Years Inspection Toolkit. Your EYDA or Area SENCo can support with this during their visits.
We have also produced a Data Collection sheet, this is based on the information the Ofsted inspector will ask you to produce during your call the day before your inspection. We have also added further questions that will help support our sufficiency and training plans.
This list will be sent to you at the start of each term by your EYDA, we would ask that you collect the information and return it (starting in January 2026), whilst also retaining a copy as this information will then support completing the Ofsted form when sent to you.
