Council services over the Christmas period
 East Devon District Council’s main phone lines will be closed for Christmas from 12pm on Wednesday 24 December 2025 and will re-open at 8.30am on Friday 2 January 2026. Exmouth Town Hall will close at 4pm on Tuesday 23 December 2025, and Blackdown House will close at 12pm on Wednesday 24 December 2025.
Many council services are available online over the festive period. Changes to recycling collection dates, information on benefits, housing needs and other key information during this festive period, can be found on the council website.
 Changes to Recycling and Waste collection dates over the Christmas period
 Recycling and Waste collections will be affected by the Christmas bank holidays. You can find your collection dates on your bin hanger and on the council website.
If you’re signed up for green waste collections, please note that there will be a pause between Monday 22 December 2025 and Friday 16 January 2026. If you've not already, why not sign up - giving yourself the gift of convenience?

Cranbrook Leisure Centre project progresses, with design work underway

Design work is underway for a new leisure centre, a key addition to Cranbrook’s expanding town centre, with proposals including a 25-metre and learner pool, gym, fitness studios, soft play, and a café. Residents’ feedback will help shape the proposals for the new leisure centre. Two engagement events are planned, with the first set to take place in early 2026.

 East Devon celebrated a night of remarkable success as a host of local businesses were recognised at the 2025 Devon Tourism Awards.

The new site will enable Devon Air Ambulance to land quickly and safely in Cranbrook during the hours of darkness, allowing the clinical team on board to reach patients more quickly.

16-19-year-olds in Exmouth: apply for free documentary filmmaking course

Participants on the four-week-long documentary filmmaking course will embark on a whistle-stop tour from preparation to projection. They will learn how to find and develop a story, how to capture it, how to shape the edit, and how to bring it to an audience.
