Thank you for Giving our Birds Space!
Exmouth Wildlife Refuge has enjoyed another successful season with minimal disturbance to the incredible migratory birds allowing them space to rest, recuperate, and fill their bellies! So, if you have kept clear of the duck pond with your dog this autumn then we would like to say a huge thank you on behalf of the brent geese, wigeon, oyster catchers, redshank, curlew, dunlin and all of the other amazing overwintering visitors we are fortunate enough to share the space with. With only 5 reports of dog disturbance since early September we are incredibly proud of the dog owners of South East Devon for respecting the wildlife and allowing it to thrive. Gravy bones all round!

RSPCA Little Valley Santa Paws Shoe Box Appeal
Recently we were fortunate enough to visit the RSPCA Little Valley animal shelter in Exeter and witness the incredible work these dedicated animal lovers put in to finding new homes for unwanted and mistreated pets. We are pleased to say that every dog that is rehomed will find a copy of our Four Paws code in their adoption packs to help them look after our precious countryside when out and about with their new families. Unfortunately they won't all find a home by Christmas but that doesn't mean they can't enjoy some festive fun.
The RSPCA Little Valley team are calling on you to spread some Christmas joy by taking part in their Santa Paws Shoe Box Appeal. Simply fill a shoe box with some treats and toys, gift wrap it, and drop it off ready for the animals to open on the big day!

Last month we reached out to the dog lovers of Devon for some help naming this paw-some new wooden dog carving, and you delivered! With more suggestions than we ever imagined there was a very clear winner, so by popular demand we would like to introduce Woody! This handsome hound sits proudly at Decoy Country Park and will be fitted with a DLD tag so every visitor will know their name. Why not come and visit woody yourself and see what else this incredible country park has to offer!

There will be another waggy wooden dog coming to Dawlish Countryside Park soon... and they'll need a name too! So get your suggestions ready and keep an eye on our Facebook page.

Visit National Trust Killerton |

Dog walkers know Killerton as a brilliant spot for long rambles and relaxed weekend strolls. Now there’s even more reason to visit. With support from Defra’s Trees for Climate programme and in partnership with the Plymouth & South Devon Community Forest, the National Trust is planting over 100,000 new trees and creating 6.9km of additional permissive paths across the estate.

What a wonderful year of Waggy Walks it's been! We've hosted a total of 36 four-pawed adventures exploring different locations across South East Devon, and built an amazing community of dog owners and their furry friends! Next year we plan to take the lead on even more frequent guided walks and introduce stunning new sites. Following the recent success of our tree planting Waggy Walk at Cranbrook Country Park where we planted 40 trees dedicated to our canine companions we are already planning more like this. We will be introducing other fun activities and fresh ideas to help you and your dog learn and care for the amazing spaces we are so privileged to use. Don't forget to book your free space!
