Share your feedback following the first Budleigh Salterton Beach and Cliff Management Plan drop-in session

We’d like to hear your views on the Budleigh Salterton Beach and Cliff Management Plan. If you attended the recent drop-in session, this is an opportunity to share your feedback and thoughts following the event. If you were unable to attend, you are equally encouraged to take part and share your views on what you feel should be the key priorities as the project moves forward.

Your feedback will help inform the next stages of the project, including what you feel should be the key priorities moving forward. Any local knowledge or historical information you are able to share would also be very welcome.

The survey closes at 11am on the 16 January 2026

Street Trading Policy Public Consultation

Feedback is being sought on the amended draft Street Trading Policy. The draft amended document being consulted on would be the 6th version of this policy to be proposed. The current version of the Policy (Version 5) came into effect on 1st May 2023, and although there is no legal requirement to review a street trading policy, the Council is of the opinion that numerous areas for amendment have become apparent since the last policy came into effect. The draft amended policy therefore fully updates the policy and gives additional information in those areas.

Consultation closes 4 February 2026 at 5pm. Scroll down to answer and click on the consultation.

East Devon Local Plan 2020–2042: Second Regulation 19 Consultation

The East Devon Local Plan 2020–2042 Second Regulation 19 consultation is your opportunity to review and comment on the final draft of the local development plan. All feedback received during this stage will be submitted directly to the Planning Inspector for independent examination.

We’ve made a number of amendments to the original plan following the first consultation and these changes are set out. This round specifically seeks comments on those changes, which are set out within the document and tables in each chapter. Please note that within the tables we have not highlighted very minor corrections such as typographical or other small grammatical errors.

We encourage residents, businesses, and stakeholders to carefully read through the proposed policies and site allocations. To respond, simply scroll down and click on the relevant chapter.

If you’ve previously submitted comments and they remain unchanged, there’s no need to resubmit them—they will already be included in the inspector’s review.

Exmouth Beach Management Plan approved by cabinet

East Devon District Council (EDDC) has formally adopted the updated Exmouth Beach Management Plan (BMP), setting out how coastal flood and erosion risks will be managed along the Exmouth seafront over the next century.

The BMP has been developed with South West Flood and Coastal, the Environment Agency, and technical coastal specialists from consultancy AECOM. It recognises that ageing defences, rising sea levels, and the changing climate are increasing risk along the frontage. If no action were taken over the next 100 years, Exmouth could face around £800 million in damages from coastal flooding, erosion, and the potential loss of the beach.

You can view the full consultation summary report below.
