Welcome to the Special Edition Newsletter, highlighting all things 16 Days!
This year AVAWP have made the decision to focus more on raising awareness within the wider community around Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Sessions will be held throughout the 16 Days, ending with our first Vigil on the evening of Monday 11 December 2023. It would be great to see as many people as possible there with their families and friends. We know that no one person alone can end GBV and would welcome coming together to discuss how we can work towards a community approach to eradicating this within Angus.
We will also have a few sessions available for multi-agency staff, booking details are below. I would particularly draw your attention to the Graham Goulden event discussing how we can all become ‘active bystanders’.
“Did you know? – Intervention doesn’t have to always be direct. There are many ways to be an active bystander. It’s not so much about “Should you intervene, more could you do something?””.

Join us to launch our new Employer Pledge.
Are you an organisation or business looking to become more gender-based violence (GBV) aware? The Employer Pledge is a transformative initiative where employers can commit to creating and implementing policies centred around gender-based violence awareness.
By taking this pledge, employers publicly commit to developing and enforcing policies that promote their awareness and support their employees should they face any type of gender-based violence. We would like organisations and retailers to adopt a culture that prioritises respect, equality, and empathy for anyone who may experience GBV.
The Employer Pledge is more than a symbolic gesture; it's a strategic commitment that aligns with the values of inclusivity, diversity, and social responsibility. By prioritising this commitment, organisations and businesses not only contribute to the eradication of gender-based violence but also elevate their reputation as a safe and respectful place to work in Angus.
This session is open to professionals and members of the public.
