► Oct 28 LPHA Update call recording and referenced resources have been added to the Archives page
► New interim guidance for H5N1 (avian flu) has been posted on the Communicable Disease page under the DHSS top menu tab. Missouri Department of Conservation has updated HPAI materials this week and plans to issue a news release today or tomorrow.

DHSS UPDATES
► Health Advisory: DHSS issued a health advisory Oct 27, warning consumers about the health risks associated with 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH), made by chemically converting the main opioid-inducing element in kratom. A parent fact sheet was developed by DHSS, and a news release will be issued soon (embargoed draft).
► Missouri WIC: Benefits Available in November (press release) (Missouri WIC Facebook)
► Hep C testing: Free Hepatitis C testing is available through the State Public Health Lab (10/20/2025 letter) (instructions)
► Accreditation: If your Health Department is already accredited, please submit your verification of accreditation to the Incentive funding email at IncentiveFundingSubmissions@health.mo.gov to receive credit.
► Mental Health First Aid trainings: A schedule of upcoming classes is being developed and will be added to the Hub calendar soon. LPHAs can also request a private/regional course by visiting this website.
► PHEP revised budgets: With the release of additional funding from CDC, DHSS will be amending the FY26 PHEP contract budgets. Check the FY26 Funding Allocation Table for your FY26 TOTAL Contract Amount, which includes what you have already received in your current contract, along with the additional funds. With the amendment process taking anywhere between 60-90 days, it could be January before the additional funds are available to utilize. To help avoid delays, we are asking for budgets to be submitted to preparedness@health.mo.gov as soon as possible, but no later than COB November 3. Please use this template and include your county name in the email subject line. Instructions for completing the budget can be found on the first tab of template. Please do not change any budget formulas. Capability percentages should total 100% (example: CAP 1 30%, CAP 2 40%, CAP 4 30%) and should remain the same as submitted on original Work Plans. Please take into consideration the funds your county has expended so far this contract year and closely evaluate spending needs for selected capabilities/work plans and budget accordingly. Invoices cannot be approved when the Invoice Tool indicates a negative balance in any budget category.
► Missouri Rural Health Day: On November 20, DHSS Office of Rural Health and Primary Care will host the Annual Missouri Rural Health Day celebration to honor the dedication and resilience of rural health professionals, organizations, and communities in rural Missouri, recognizing the “Power of Rural” to communicate, educate, collaborate, and innovate to improve the health of rural Missourians. Location: Capital Bluffs Event Center at Turkey Creek Golf Course, 1616 Oil Well Road, Jefferson City, MO 65101. 10:00 am – 3:00 pm with check-in and networking starting at 9:00 am. The event and parking are free and lunch will be provided. Register
