June In Case You Missed It!
In Academic Year 2025-26, the Office of Higher Education will be sending a month end GovDelivery recapping the communications shared that month. This is not an exhaustive list and we encourage you to review all previous messages.
-
New: Starting with Academic Year 2025-26, the final day for students to become eligible for the Michigan Achievement Scholarship in MiSSG will be Friday, August 7, 2026. This means that any students who are ineligible in MiSSG at the end of August 7 will no longer be updated to eligible status for the Michigan Achievement Scholarship for the remainder of the 2025-26 year.
-
Continued Procedures: If a student’s final semester to initiate the Michigan Achievement Scholarship is in a ‘Ready to Pay’ status, that payment must be moved to ‘Paid’ before any subsequent semesters can be certified.
- All Academic Year 2025-26 Nonpublic Dual Enrollment payments that have not yet been issued by the MiLEAP Office of Higher Education, including anticipated payments for June, July, and August, will be delayed because the current fiscal year appropriation has been expended.
- To ensure adequate funds are requested, please report outstanding Nonpublic Dual Enrollment payment amounts for the remainder of the year; including June and July (for July and August payments anticipated billing requests) by Friday, June 12, 2026.
- All Academic Year 2025-26 Nonpublic Dual Enrollment Billing Forms must be submitted no later than July 31, 2026, and final payment for the year will be issued August 12, 2026 (or once the supplemental budget has passed, if it has not already done so).
- If a student is selected for identity verification, this process must be completed before any State financial aid can be awarded (including programs that only require a submitted FAFSA).
-
NEW 2026-27: If a student has a FAFSA with Reject Codes 74 or 75, the student will be ineligible for all State financial aid programs (unless the institution has successfully verified the student’s identity).
-
MiSSG Implementation Coming Soon: All 2026-27 ISIRs will be evaluated for Reject Codes 74 and 75. If either reject code is present on a student's record, the Office of Higher Education will apply an administrative override and the student's eligibility status will be updated to "Ineligible – Administrative Override." Institutions are encouraged to monitor eligibility reports and contact students as needed.
-
MiSSG Implementation Long-Term Solution: The Office of Higher Education is working with its vendor to implement an automated solution that will evaluate 2026-27 and future ISIRs for Reject Codes 74 and 75. When either reject code is identified, MiSSG will automatically assign the eligibility status "Ineligible – Identity Verification Required – Reject Code 74 or 75."
- As the end of Academic Year 2025-26 approaches, review a summary of important deadlines for both the MI Future Educator Fellowship and Stipend programs.
- If you have any questions as you complete year-end processes for either program, please contact Sarah McGann at McGannS@Michigan.gov.
- Thank you for your recent participation in the Office of Higher Education Year-end Webinar. The presentation slides and recording are available for you to view.
