In Academic Year 2025-26, the Office of Higher Education will be sending a month end GovDelivery recapping the communications shared that month. This is not an exhaustive list and we encourage you to review all previous messages.
- This year’s Michigan Reconnect compliance report deadline is June 30, 2026.
- Workforce Pell Grants expand federal financial aid to cover short-term workforce training programs that prepare students for high-skill, high-wage and in-demand jobs.
- The U.S. Department of Education will begin accepting applications from training providers interested in using Workforce Pell after July 1, 2026. To apply to the U.S. Department of Education Michigan training providers must request state approval of programs as the first step to seeking eligibility for Workforce Pell funding.
- The State of Michigan will host a training on Thursday, May 14th, 2026 to go over the application process and highlight the documentation requirements for approval.
- Erin Burd will be taking over the Michigan Indian Tuition Waiver for the Office of Higher Education.
- TIP reimbursements may now resume. Data cleanup and system updates for the May cycle are complete.
- Please review SAP and GPA requirements carefully and ensure appropriate updates are made for students who do not meet eligibility standards. Full program details and requirements are available in the State Programs and Procedures Manual.
MSFAA Conference Follow Up!
In case you missed it, we launched a survey at the MSFAA conference to aid in gathering feedback for a new recognition program. We are looking for suggestions on what areas and ways you would like to be recognized for in your State aid work! We are also interested in collecting nominations for those who should be recognized.
