Tornado debris removal started Monday and is progressing well. Removal is expected to take up to two weeks. Your tornado debris should ALREADY BE AT THE CURB, away from fire hydrants and utilities, if not it is recommended you get it there ASAP to avoid missing it being picked up. We do not have a schedule as to when they will be on a specific street as it is based on amounts being picked up by area. This pickup is specifically designated for heavy storm damage related to the tornado, if you have small amounts of limbs please put them in your regular yard waste. Please be aware that streets may be blocked for short periods of time as the trucks move down the street and exercise caution around the work crews.
As a follow up to the April 5th newsletter, I would like to provide more information about our investment in education. Not only did we tackle this topic budgetarily, but we also implemented strong policies regarding education in our commonwealth.
First on the budgetary side, we allocated a record amount in SEEK that incrementally increases the per student amount about by $612; transportation costs has been an issue for districts, so we fully funded transportation with an additional $208 million which equates to 100% funded in 2026; for teachers’ pension, we not only met the statutory amount (unlike several years ago) but we met the actuarial, plus an additional $460 million to further drive down our unfunded liability obligations; we added $2.6 million for teacher scholarship program, plus $14.6 million for new student teacher stipend to help hire more teachers; and Increased General Fund by $34 million for school resource officers on a reimbursement basis with a maximum of $20,000 per campus.
Second on the policy side, we passed HB 377 which provides teachers with stipends up to $5,000 and loan forgiveness; HB 63 which allowed schools to hire school resources officers for student and teacher safety; HB 446 which gives bus drivers more authority in keeping discipline on the buses; HB 447 which allows for certain types of vans to get our your children home earlier; and HB 611 which deals with student truancy and takes one step closer in addressing better students’ attendance.
Through a cooperative and collaborative approach, I was part of a group that spearheaded a record amount to Jefferson County with over $1.2 billion of investment in human services, infrastructure, and education.
The Jefferson County PVA will mail property assessments on April 26, 2024. The 2024 reassessment covers MLS Areas 2, 3, and 7 including areas in and around Germantown, The Highlands, Clifton, Crescent Hill, Butchertown, St. Matthews, Indian Hills, Audubon Park, Hikes Point, Jeffersontown, Fern Creek (areas east of Bardstown Road), and Fisherville. If your property value changes, you will receive a full-color assessment notice on a large postcard that includes a photo of the property and information about the assessment appeal process. If you believe the assessed value is not correct, The Jefferson County PVA wants you to know: You have a right to appeal.

If you believe the PVA assessed value does not represent the fair-market value of your property, you have a right to appeal your assessment.

The Department of Codes & Regulations has initiated their new Rental Registry program and your action is required. Property owners must register all their rental units with the city and pay a fee ranging from $25 to $250; failure to register is subject to a fine up to $100 per day per housing unit.
The registry will provide accurate and up-to-date contact information for property owners and management companies to help the city better identify and contact the responsible parties should Code Enforcement Officers find code violations at a rental property. Louisville Metro Government will randomly select properties from the list each year to undergo inspections to ensure the units meet the city code of ordinances.

Type of Work: The reconstruction of two 11-foot travel lanes and a left turn lane at the Springcrest Drive intersection are included in this project. A 6-foot sidewalk will also be installed along the north side of KY 22 between the entrance just east of Cliffwynde Trce and Brownhurst Cove Road.
Other Details: During phase 2 of the project, KY 22/Brownsboro Road will be reduced to one lane between Cliffwynde Trace and Pine Hurst Lane. Temporary signals will be placed to direct traffic through the work zone and will remain in place through the completion of the project.

Flagging operations may be required on KY 151, KY 1665, and KY 2817.
Detour: Oversized vehicles are alerted to an 11-foot width restriction for eastbound and westbound directions in the construction zone. These vehicles can utilize U.S. 60 and U.S. 127 as a detour.
Other Details: The project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2024.
*Crews will be removing barrier walls the week of Monday, April 22, requiring nightly lane closures.
