Project includes improvements to pavement
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 5, 2024) – A roadway rehabilitation project has been awarded for a nearly nine-mile stretch of Interstate 64 spanning through Jefferson and Shelby Counties. The project will improve driver comfort on the roadway throughout the corridor.
The rehabilitation project includes the milling and removing existing asphalt pavement and replaces it with new asphalt. Other improvements to the corridor include bridge repairs, subgrade repairs, and guardrail repairs/installation. This project will extend the life of the pavement, address potholes and give drvers a smoother ride.
Work on the project will begin Monday, March 18, at 6 a.m., between mile marker 19.44 and mile marker 27.88. In order to maintain two-lane traffic flow during the duration of the project, the eastbound work beginning Monday, March 18, will consist of the placement of temporary barrier walls to direct traffic through the construction zone.
Motorists should expect changing traffic patterns, lane shifts, and closures as construction progresses. Closure details are available: https://transportation.ky.gov/DistrictFive/Pages/KYTC-District-5-Roadshow.aspx
E & B Paving Company, LLC., of North Anderson, In., was awarded the nearly $14 million contract with the project completion date anticipated for the fall of 2024.
