Art and Dance Classes

Adult and Senior Salsa Dancing
The Latin music we hear today has its origins in Cuba where the blending of African drum rhythms and Spanish guitar evolved into a variety of Latin American music. We will be working on foundation patterns, the dance hold and Cuban motions. Come join us for eight weeks of fun and exercise and meet others who want to enjoy evenings of Salsa dancing. This program is perfect for beginner salsa dancers. Steve Mosco of Evanston DanceTech has been teaching ballroom dance for more than 40 years. No partner required. This program will be offered via zoom only. No class Monday, January 18.

Fran Randall Memorial Concert Series
The Levy Senior Center Foundation is proud to bring the talents of young, award-winning classical musicians to the Levy Senior Center. The outstanding lineup continues to honor the memory of Fran Randall who loved classical music and played an important role in opening the current center. The concert will be pre-recorded and the video link will be released on Friday, January 29 at 1:30 p.m. View the program.
Home Organizing Series
Join Amy Novick, professional organizer, in this exciting 4-part series. Attend one or attend them all! All are welcome. Call the Levy Senior Center at 847-448-8250 to register. Introduction to Japanese Language and Culture through Music
 Atsuko (Ann) Noguchi returns to the Levy Senior Center through a new and engaging program. Students will learn the basics of the Japanese language and will gain a better understanding of Japanese culture and music. Classes are small for individualized attention. Space is limited. Adult Paint and Draw
Through observation and invention, we will explore drawing and painting techniques. A variety of materials will be used. Each week we will look at an artist for inspiration. Personal style will be encouraged. No previous experience necessary. Color, form and composition will be addressed. Both acrylic and watercolor paint will be used. Individual supply kits will be given for personal use. Register early, because space is limited to seven students. In-person program only.

 The Levy Senior Center Foundation is proud to sponsor the Levy Lecture Series, an educational program for residents 55+ years who are passionate about learning. Additional support is provided by Avidor Evanston. The series is free, but registration is required. Lectures through March will be presented on Zoom. Register and you will be receive an email with easy-to-follow steps.
Intro to American Sign Language
 In this program you'll learn the history of American Sign Language (ASL), deaf culture, and the basics of sign language, such as the alphabet, numbers, greetings, family, and other common sayings. This course will include opportunities for you to learn and practice the language in each class through activities, games, and presentations. Emily Kulacz is an ASL teacher at Evanston Township High School, with a background in Deaf Education. Students will need to have a Google account to share and view documents and learning resources. As 2020 comes to a close, the Levy Senior Center staff has been reflecting on what an unprecedented year it has been.
