Hello,
Thank you to everyone who celebrated Independence Day with us last week. It was a wonderful night filled with delicious food, great music, community spirit and amazing fireworks.
One important element of Independence Day is honoring the veterans who have sacrificed to preserve our freedom. We’ll have another opportunity to do that later this year as American Canyon hosts The Wall That Heals — a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. This exciting event will take place from Oct. 16-19 at Community Park II. Many different volunteer roles are available for those who wish to donate their time, including: set up, visitor tent, parking assistance and more!
Looking for additional ways to get involved and make a difference in your community? Our annual Citizens Academy allows residents to connect with local leaders and deepen their knowledge of city roles and functions. The Academy is an eight-week program that will take place on Wednesday evenings starting on September 23. The application period for the Fall 2025 Citizens Academy is now open, and you can learn more and apply at AmericanCanyon.gov/CitizensAcademy.
On Tuesday, August 5 from 6-8 p.m., communities across the country will celebrate National Night Out. Here in American Canyon, residents throughout our community host block parties for their neighborhoods. American Canyon’s Police Department, American Canyon Fire Protection District and City staff will be making rounds throughout the evening, so be sure to say hi when you see us in your neighborhood! Sign up to host your own neighborhood party by 5 p.m. on Monday, July 28.
We are lucky to have residents who want to make a difference. Thank you for being part of our vibrant community.
Take care, Jason B. Holley City Manager

On July 1, our budget for Fiscal Year 2025-26 officially went into effect. Adopted by the City Council in June, this balanced budget reflects careful planning and a commitment to using our resources responsibly. It supports the services you count on every day, like public safety, parks, road repairs, and youth programs, and helps us stay focused on what matters most to our community.
The budget is made up of several key funding areas. Our general fund covers essential services like police, street maintenance, parks and recreation, and community development. Enterprise funds, which include water, sewer, and recycled water, are fully supported by fees paid by users – not by general tax dollars. Our Capital Improvements Project (CIP) funds supports 45 active projects across the city, from street and sidewalk improvements to park upgrades and utility work, all with a focus on improving the quality of life for our residents and business owners, and investing in our community for years to come. And lastly, Special Revenue Funds, like the Measure T and U, grants, help us extend our impact even further.
To help kick off the new fiscal year, our incredible Finance Team put together a fun video to celebrate the great work that took place behind the scenes that helps keep our city running smoothly.

This fiscal year’s balanced budget helps advance our goals and strategies for public safety, outdoors and recreation, economic development and vitality, infrastructure, quality services and organizational effectiveness, transportation, environmental sustainability, and community sense of place.
Each dollar in the city’s budget represents an investment in our shared future — ensuring that American Canyon continues to be a great place to live, work and play.
Together in service, Mayor Pierre Washington
