Hello,
Welcome to the July Parks and Recreation Newsletter, where fun, community and outdoor adventure come together all month long! July is officially Parks and Recreation Month, and we couldn't be more excited to celebrate with you! This month is about recognizing the incredible impact parks and recreation have on our lives – from providing green spaces and exciting programs to supporting wellness and spreading joy for all ages! Here’s what the Parks and Recreation team has to say about this month!
There’s still time to make the most of summer—spaces are still available in our camps and programs! Don’t miss out on all the fun we have planned for you and your family.
We’re kicking off the month with one of our favorite traditions—our annual 4th of July Celebration! Join us for a day filled with family fun, live entertainment, festive activities and a fireworks show guaranteed to knock your socks off. You don’t want to miss it! Please note that city offices and facilities will be closed on Friday, July 4 in observance of the holiday.
As we continue to enjoy these sunny days, we're also gearing up for a new season of activities. Our fall activity guide filled with events, classes, and programs to keep you moving, learning, and connecting all season long is coming soon. Mark your calendar: registration opens Tuesday, August 5 for residents and Tuesday, August 19 for non-residents.
Speaking of Fall, the American Canyon 2025 Citizen’s Academy is back again this year from September to November! Each week, the Citizens Academy will spotlight a different City department, offering participants insight into its essential roles and how they all work together to create a strong and effective local government. Sign up today!
We are honored to host the Wall that Heals later this year, a powerful replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., from Oct. 16-19. This exhibition is a chance for reflection, education and unity. We are currently seeking volunteers to help make this meaningful event possible, so if you’re interested in donating your time, please sign up today.
We're updating the City of American Canyon’s Parks and Community Services Master Plan—and we want to hear from you! This plan will help shape the future of our parks, facilities, and recreation programs based on what matters most to our community. Your input is essential to ensure our public spaces and services reflect your needs and priorities. Let your voice be heard by taking our community questionnaire and help guide the next chapter of Parks and Recreation in American Canyon!
Here’s to a fun-filled July! Alexandra Ikeda Deputy City Manager
