Hello,
Thank you to all who voted in last week’s election. Change is in the air and we’re especially thankful for the spirit of public service. Your ongoing support and community involvement makes American Canyon a truly special place to live, work and play — and retire too!
In that spirit, I invite you to join us at our City Council meeting next Tuesday, Nov. 19. This will be a special opportunity to recognize Mayor Leon Garcia and Council Member Mariam Aboudamous who are retiring from the City Council.
As we gather in appreciation of our outgoing Council, we will also provide an opportunity to learn how our City Council transitions after a municipal election. Attending Council meetings is a fantastic way to connect with your local leaders and fellow residents while gaining insight into the issues shaping our community.
If you’re looking for another way to become involved, consider applying for one of the following citizen advisory commissions: Planning Commission, Parks and Community Services Commission and the Open Space, Active Transportation and Sustainability Commission. Joining a commission is a meaningful way to contribute your voice to the decisions that impact our community. Apply today!
Lastly, City offices and facilities will be closed Nov. 28-29 for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will resume normal operations on Monday, Dec. 2. Wishing you a joyful Thanksgiving season with your loved ones!
Take care, Jason B. Holley City Manager

Veterans Day Ceremony
Thank you to our community partners — American Canyon Troop Support, American Canyon Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1123 (VFW), Beth Marcus, Sindy Biederman and Hugh Marquez — for making this Veterans Day Ceremony memorable! It was also a pleasure to have Eric Yunck as this year’s keynote speaker, as he focused on mental health in military and law enforcement.
Thanks again to our AmCan community for your continued support, and a special thanks to all veterans — welcome home!
View the photo album of the ceremony here, and visit Napa Valley Register for full coverage of the ceremony.
Thank you to Napa Valley TV and Chester Cooley Photography for providing video and photo coverage of the event.

Only Rain in the Drain
Fall is here, and the leaves are dropping!
Now that fall is here, it’s important to take extra precautions to protect our stormwater systems and keep leaves out of the gutters. The streetsweeper is unable to pick up leaves and similar debris from the street, and leaves in the gutter system can lead to street flooding, pollution in the Napa River and increased mosquito presence. Disposing leaves in the gutter is also a violation of the American Canyon Municipal Code.
Instead, compost your leaves using the Recology Green Waste Disposal Cart or by starting a backyard compost at home — composting leaves enriches the soil to nourish your garden!
Need an additional waste bin? Contact Recology at 707-552-3110 or online today.
