Traffic stop leads to arrest of armed, impaired driver in American Canyon

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., November 7, 2024 - Late Wednesday night, on Nov. 6, American Canyon Police conducted a traffic stop on a red Ford Explorer after observing it traveling at approximately 90 mph northbound on Highway 29 near South Kelly Road. The driver, 48-year-old Vallejo resident Aaron Gammon, and his passenger, 52-year-old Vallejo resident Davina Meyi, were identified during the stop.

Officers suspected Gammon was driving under the influence, and, after an evaluation, confirmed impairment due to a controlled substance. Both Gammon and Meyi were found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine. Additionally, officers discovered a loaded, unregistered Raven .25-caliber firearm in Gammon's pocket. As a convicted felon on probation, Gammon was arrested on five felony charges related to firearm possession, as well as charges for speeding and drug possession. Meyi was cited for possession of a controlled substance and released at the scene, while Gammon was booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections.
