February 11, 2022
Hello,
I am pleased to announce we will host our Annual State of the City on Wednesday, February 23, 2021, at 6:30 PM. This year's event will be held virtually and broadcast via YouTube. We have an exciting lineup of presenters to provide an update on what to expect living, working, and playing in American Canyon in 2022.
We'd love to hear from you, too! Please send us any questions you have for us through this form. Since we may not have time to answer them during the live broadcast, if you include your contact information, we will respond directly to you with the answer within the next few weeks. We will also list the Q&A here on our website.
This week, randomly selected American Canyon households began receiving invitations from the City to participate in the National Community Survey™(The NCS™), comprehensive quality of life survey. The survey will include questions about quality of life, important characteristics of the City's community services, and priorities for the future. If anyone receives the invitation but needs a paper version of the survey or other accommodations to complete the survey, they should contact our Communications Manager Jen Kansanback by phone at (707) 647-5355 or email JKansanback@CityOfAmericanCanyon.org.
For now, the survey is only open by invitation, and to maintain the accuracy of data samples, we ask that the survey link not be shared with others. Beginning March 7, the survey will be open to all residents through the City's website at CityofAmericanCanyon.org. I'll include the information and survey link in a future edition of this email newsletter when the time comes closer.
We look forward to sharing the survey findings later this spring. Read more about the NCS in our recent press release here.
Take care,
Jason B. Holley City Manager

Improved Child Tax Credit
On February 8, 2022, the White House made amendments to those who are eligible for the Child Tax Credit. What are the key benefits you could receive?
- Parents can receive $3,000 or $3,600 per child ages 0-17 depending on the child’s age.
- Income eligibility: All eligible families can receive the full credit if they make less than $150,000 for a married couple or $112,500 for a single parent in 2021.
- File your taxes to get your remaining credit or your full credit if you haven’t gotten monthly payments: Families, including those who received part of their Child Tax Credit as monthly payments last year, can get their remaining Child Tax Credit by filing a tax return this year. If you did not receive monthly Child Tax Credit payments, you will receive the full credit amount when you file your tax returns.
- Non-taxable: The Child Tax Credit, including the monthly payments received last year, is a tax cut. It is not income that will be taxed.
- Does not affect other federal benefits: Receiving the Child Tax Credit will have no impact on anyone’s eligibility for, or lower the amount of, other federal benefits.
- For parents and legal guardians: Anyone, including grandparents, who are legal guardians may be eligible for the Child Tax Credit.
To determine your eligibility click here or find free resources to help you get your Child Tax Credit.
