Felon Passed Out in Vehicle and Arrested For Possessing a Shotgun

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif., February 10, 2022, 12:30 PM – On Thursday, February 10, 2022, at approximately 7:30 AM, American Canyon Police (ACPD) officers were dispatched to a male subject slumped over the steering wheel of a grey Honda sedan, on northbound Highway 29 near Napa Junction Road, causing a traffic hazard.

Officers arrived and were able to awaken 46-year-old Joshua Doyel of Vallejo. While officers talked with Doyel, he stated he might have illegal items in his vehicle. Officers searched his vehicle and located an unloaded pistol grip style .12 gauge pump shotgun hidden on the back seat, along with shaved keys commonly used to steal and burglarize vehicles. A records check revealed Doyel is a convicted felon and prohibited from owning firearms. He was booked into the Napa County Jail for felony firearm violations and possession of burglary tools. Doyel is currently in custody on $10,000 bail.
