Join us to hear the story of Marcus Trufant, a Tacoma native who went on to a successful professional football career, and brought his influence back to his community through the Trufant Family Foundation. We’ll be exploring ways the school system can encourage students to live their dreams, with specific advice for school counselors advising aspiring athletes. We’ll also learn more about the Trufant Family Foundation and their partners at PUSH for Dreams to learn how they’re partnering with schools to offer connections and holistic supports. Our panel will also include Stan Emert, Executive Director of Sports Enterprise Management with us to share some of his experiences with high school, college, and professional athletics and ways we can support youth with college and career readiness. Learn about some high leverage strategies to keep your students on the pathway to graduation and to achieving their dreams. You’ll get advice on how to make these partnerships a success and what you can do to get started in your own context. We’ll have resources to share and we’ll be offering free Clock Hours.

The big day is Teacher Appreciation Day on May 5, but teachers are just so great that they get a whole week to savor our appreciation. Whether you have a teacher, know a teacher, or are a teacher, there are endless ways to give a little extra support to teachers and teachers organizations. Teaching is known to be a time-consuming and challenging profession, so this week is our chance to say thank you to those that play or have played such a huge role in our lives. Who doesn’t have a fond memory of a teacher who inspired us in some way?

National Mental Health Awareness Month
Mental Health Month raises awareness of trauma and the impact it can have on the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of children, families, and communities.
