State approves ACH Medicaid transformation project plans

After a rigorous planning process, all nine Accountable Communities of Health (ACHs) have received state approval of their Medicaid Transformation Project Plans.

The Project Plans describe how each of the nine ACHs will transform health care in their regions and improve the overall health of their Washington Apple Health (Medicaid) populations. From tackling the opioid crisis to integrating behavioral and physical health care, these ambitious and detailed plans aim to address some of the most pressing health issues facing communities today.

New resources and guidance for practices considering telepsychiatry

More primary care practices are using telemedicine to address the challenges of rising costs and provider shortages, especially in rural areas. And, as primary care providers are called upon to manage more patients with mental health and substance use issues, many busy practices are considering telepyschiatry as an option for integrating behavioral health.

“Key Considerations for Implementing Telepsychiatry Services”– a new tool from the Practice Transformation Support Hub – can help practices considering telepsychiatry decide if it will work for them.

Download the six-page guide from the Hub Resource Portal.

      Alternative payment model 4

Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) and Rural Health Clinics (RHC) are essential providers to Medicaid clients, and are working to deliver better care and lower costs. Accountable Care Program comes through when high-quality care needed

When Kathy Boucher was first diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, she had never heard of the disease. It started as trouble with her balance and walking. “I didn’t know what was going on,” she recalls.

Through her employer, Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, Kathy is a member of UMP Plus, offered by the state to public employees.

Since joining UMP Plus, Kathy has personally experienced cost savings—particularly when paying for the prescription drugs she relies on to manage her disease. Under UMP Plus, there is no prescription drug deductible, which has been a major blessing for Kathy.
