Mantua's Back to School Night will be this Wednesday (tomorrow!) from 6:00-8:00 pm. 

Teachers will be presenting sessions within their classrooms. Each classroom teacher will present at both sessions, allowing you to choose either or to attend both sessions if you have multiple children. *Childcare will not be available.

We have secured overflow parking at the Mantua Hills Swim Club parking lot, with school bus shuttles to and from the Mantua ES main entrance to support our parking needs. Those not attending the second session are asked to leave following the first session to make parking spaces available.

Light refreshments are available in the cafeteria for those remaining for Session #2.

Third through sixth grade students are eligible to register starting August 29, 2023.  Registration will
end on September 22, 2023.

Have one (or a few) budding book lovers in your house? Want to build literacy skills? Just feel like reading a good book and hanging out with friends? 

Join Mantua's popular student book club that meets once a month from December thru April discussing great books with new (and old) friends. Parent volunteers lead groups of 6-8 kids in discussions and fun activities. Books will be selected by school librarians and Chat 'n' Chew volunteers and provided to participants to keep.

Costumes for Kids Fall Volunteer Festival invites families to prepare costumes for elementary school children in low-resource communities Kids Give Back, a nonprofit organization that inspires elementary-age students to volunteer, will host its third-annual Costumes for Kids Fall Volunteer Festival on October 21, 2023, 11am-3pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 8922 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax.

The event brings kids and their families together to prepare 125 storybook character costumes for students who attend Title 1 schools in Northern Virginia. In addition to preparing costumes such as Little Mermaid, Mario Bros, Spiderman, and others, attendees will enjoy traditional festival activities, including: • Pumpkin painting • Face painting • Crafts • Tattoo station • Games • Snacks and ice cream • Raffle baskets.  

Festival tickets are $10/person, $35 for a family of four and free for ages five and under. Details are available at www.kidsgiveback.org/events.
