School Photos TOMORROW and Thursday

Kinder and First Grade, Wednesday October 20th

Second and Third Grade, Thursday, October 21st

All students will be photographed for school records either tomorrow, Wednesday, October 20th  (Kindergarten and First Grade) or Thursday, October 21st (Second and Third Grade).  Package options from Strawbridge Studios can be found electronically through the attached link.  Additionally, paper copies were sent home in your student’s Take Home Envelope (we apologize for any confusion as the dates on the printed copy are not correct).

Parents can choose to purchase photos, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting our school.   If you decide to order a photo package, please return the envelope to school by photo day.  Photos should arrive in a few weeks.  Make-up photos and re-takes will occur Wednesday December 1st.

FCPS Cares

FCPS CARES is an opportunity for staff, parents, students, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others. Every month, a nominated employee from each region and Central Offices will be recognized as an FCPS CARES of the Month recipient. We’ll share their names in Employee News, and they will also have access to a new FCPS CARES banner for their profile photo in Outlook. Watch this video to learn more about FCPS CARES. We also encourage you to acknowledge a staff member who has gone above and beyond!  We love our KPES staff members, let's tell them how we feel!

Student–Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid

Beginning October 13, FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.

Returning this form is important because FCPS anticipates receiving approximately $3 million in unrestricted funds from the Impact Aid grant. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's homeroom teacher. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the boxes in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 5. All results are confidential

Additional information about the Impact Aid Survey can be found at https://www.fcps.edu/impact

AAP Level 4 (full-time) Screening Process

Students in grades 2-7 may apply

Some advanced learners need a full-time advanced academic program, including differentiated instruction in all four core content areas and access to a peer group with similar academic needs. Students in grades 2-7 may be screened for these full-time AAP services through a central selection process.

In order to initiate screening, families must submit the Level 4 Referral Form on or before December 15, 2021.

Questions, forms, and any additional materials should be directed to the school’s Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART):

More information about the Level 4 screening process can be found in the video recording (https://youtu.be/BIF_tvEPONQ) from Mrs. Keane and Mrs. Rode. A Spanish translation of the slides can be found here.

Family question and answer (Q&A) sessions specific to the Level 4 screening process will be held via Zoom on Wednesday 10/27 from 6:00-6:45pm as well as on Friday 10/29 from 10:45-11:30am. Both Mrs. Keane (KP) and Mrs. Rode (KG) plan to attend these sessions.

If you would like to receive a link to attend a Q&A session, please email Mrs. Keane (makeane@fcps.edu) with your child’s name, grade level, and the session you would like to attend (Wednesday or Friday). Please reach out for the link no later than the day before the session you wish to attend.
