Important UDS Updates

UDS Logo

As a reminder, we’re collaborating with Primary Care Associations to host virtual and in-person 2024 Uniform Data System (UDS) reporting technical assistance (TA) sessions trainings. View the 2024 UDS Training Schedule (PDF) for details on these state- or territory-based training opportunities. Join for:

  • An in-depth review of reporting tables, key terms, and definitions.
  • Details of changes from the 2023 reporting.
  • Updates on UDS Modernization, including about UDS+ requirements and resources.

This is your opportunity to ask expert UDS trainers questions about reporting requirements and how state or territory policies may impact reporting.

Preliminary Reporting Environment is Now Open

The Preliminary Reporting Environment (PRE) allows you to enter and validate UDS data before the 2024 reporting period begins on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Access it through the HRSA Electronic Handbooks (EHBs) reporting portal. Two offline reporting tools are also available to help you submit UDS data: offline Excel and HTML files. Visit our UDS Training and TA website for additional resources.

TOMORROW! Learn more about the PRE:

2025 UDS Proposed Changes Program Assistance Letter

We released the Proposed Changes to 2025 UDS Program Assistance Letter (PDF). It details proposed changes for calendar year 2025 reporting requirements, including:

  • Additions to measures that collect data on selected diagnoses and services (Table 6A) and quality of care (Table 6B)
    • Tobacco Cessation and Pharmacotherapies
    • Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD)
    • Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) Screening
    • Initiation and engagement of substance use disorder treatment to align with CMS137v13.
  • Updates to UDS clinical quality measure specifications to align with CMS electronic-specified clinical quality measures (eCQMs).

These changes align clinical performance measures across national programs to decrease reporting burden, improve data quality, and ensure consistency and comparability across various health care settings.
